Final assembly to dealer

So, I'm at the final assembly stage, and Genius says that my car is already being moved over to shipping. With it coming from Mexico to a East coast dealership, anyone have any idea or experience from this stage? ie when I can expect to see the car? I'm hoping before February as my preapproval for my financing expires a week into February, and its a low rate I'd hopefully like to keep!

When it is assigned to a vessel, you will be able to track it to its destination using a marine-traffic tracking website. The Genius will be able to tell you which vessel it is on. That's what I was told, anyway. My car is "At the Port" awaiting assignment, then to the port at Oxnard (Calif.) before coming to the dealer in Phoenix.

I'm aware of the process, its cool that you can track the ship! Which shouldnt be far from mexico/texas to baltimore. But I'm more wondering a rough estimate on travel time to dealer after this stage or what people have experienced.

2 weeks minimum at the ready to transport stage. One week sea travel minimum to an East Coast port. If you're heading farther up the coast add another week. Minimum of one week at the dealer processing center. 3 days or less on a car carrier. From what my sales manager told me as far as the 2 month time period on the credit application, they can "refresh" the application if it goes beyond the two months.

Max 90 days, even with covid. I'm not going through BMW as they are about 1% higher than my bank.

I’m literally at the same stage as you are and my dealer told me it should be in by the end of January. Coming from Mexico is hopefully a little faster then Germany…

What is actually happening while a car is in "Ready for Transport"? Is that when they are waiting for assignment to a ship?

Are all cars from the San Luis Potosi plant put on ships? Or are some shipped over land to US and Canada?

I think knowing our cars are done and sitting makes it worse haha. Genius said strong possibility of prior to Febuary delivery.

My understanding is, yes, they are all sent via ship to the various US ports.

It's sort of comical, San Luis Potosi is roughly a 15-hour drive from where I live in North Texas, yet the car will ultimately have to board a ship and essentially spend 2-4 weeks in "travel" and awaiting customs clearance to eventually get to me

Does anyone know if they use any ports along the gulf coast? (TX or LA)

My last order came from Germany and I think went through Charleston?

I'm curious to see from other members on here how many weeks did it take for your vehicles to go from production start time to at the vehicle process center.

I ordered 9/23 and after spending about a month in "Scheduled for Production", quickly matured from "Production Begins" mid-Nov to "Entering Assembly Line" 12/6 to "Ready for Transport" 12/9.

I called the Genius line today and I was expecting to hear "early Jan" only to find out it'll probably be late February for no other reason than it's slow (he blamed the holiday and COVID, but at least the car is built) though the agent could not give me any additional information or a firmer date.

The wait continues!! Ah the agony!!

The car carriers have been making stops in Galveston on some eastward journeys before heading to Brunswick. There is a vehicle processing center there, same as Brunswick, Jersey, Oxnard, etc.

Sounds like mine is on the same timeline as yours. Ordered late September, "Ready for transport " last 10 days or so. No choice but to be patient. I really want this car.

Mine has been in Ready for Transport only 6 days but I had placed my order 11/23 so haven’t been waiting as long as you guys.
