Octane Booster long term

So basically where I will be working only gas 87 gas. I know octane boosters boost it by 1 point and treats 21 gallons. Basically if i put in around 2 to 3 prior to fill, octane will go upto 90.2 to 91.8. Will it be okay to use the booster every time I fill up for long term? Tank is around 13 gallons so

If you want 93 octane you would need to add 6 ounces of Boostane Professional to a full tank of 87 octane.

How often do you need to fill up? You might be better off buying a 55 gallon drum or two and filling it up with 91 or 93-octane ethanol-free gas elsewhere. Ethanol-free fuel will last for up to 6 months, a bit more if you add fuel stabilizer.

The problem with octane boosters you can buy in stores is that many of them don't work that well. The ones that do work and can find online are pretty expensive per gallon.

Possibly relevant to you here, I recently read an article on fuels and they had this blurb about octane boosters:

Quote:
Points Vs. Percent

This is also a good place to weave in a paragraph about semantics. Some less-reputable octane boosters on the shelves of the local parts store will claim to raise the octane by three or four points. The operant word in those claims is “point.” A point is defined as one-tenth of a number or “0.10.” By definition, three points represent 0.3 of an octane number. This means that mixing in this mysterious liquid improves the octane rating of your fuel by three points – or moving 91.0-octane fuel to 91.3-octane. That’s not a big deal, especially considering the price of a pint can of even the cheaper stuff.

Our previous example of creating E30 with 91 octane fuel raised the AKI by three full numbers, from 91 to 94 AKI. That small piece of semantics is worthy of the italics added for emphasis. Remember this the next time some snake oil salesman tries to blow smoke up your tailpipe by a cheesy three points.

Everything it touches from the plugs to the rear bumper will orange. Definitely would not run that stuff regularly.

I don't even care about the question kidding but where are you at that only has 87 octane seriously?

You can buy unleaded race fuels from Sunoco and if you mix it with 87 it might equal out to 93 I'd love 95

I’m looking at Sunoco 260 GT to add to my V power 93 tank.
Any thoughts from folks who have used the Sunoco fuels?

Do you have a tune or a piggyback. Is the car completely stock?

Add 2gal of E85 per tank (or 1.5gals of E98) to boost pump gas octane. Adding GTX would be a waste. The GTX is 98 octane at $20+ a gal. E85 is 101 octane and $3 a gal.

Isn’t that E85 asking for trouble?

My bad on the GTX not GT.

E85 is still a better octane improver since it’s evaporation pulls more heat than gas and has the same ~101 octane.

No, 2gal of E85 in a tank doesn’t push us over the recommended E limit, and it doesn’t push the HPFPs too hard either. It’s my Friday Street Night mix.

So even with a stock tune mixing 2 gallons of ethanol to 13 gallons of shell 93 will result in benefits??

The driver manual says to use fuel with a maximum of 10% ethanol. But…

I’ve added 2 gal of E85 then topped up with 93 to make my E20, and the car runs fine, better than pump gas alone. My short term fuel trims (STFTs) stay around 1.0 which means the computer is pushing normal fuel volume, not increasing STFTs which would show adding volume to compensate for E being “thin”. At E25 then I saw the trims start to increase, so I’ve seen that E20 is safe and E25 would start to be too much E for a “pump gas” tune/map. I guess that’s why an E30 map is the next level above a 93 map.

The problem is that Ethanol has a lot less energy than gas, which is why when running heavily tuned you need bigger / additional injectors. If the stock car doesn't know this....not sure the result. Is the car capable of detecting the E20?
