G80 M3 Comp with Catted Downpipes (200 cell high-flow HSJ cats)

I know the majority will end up going down the catless route but I do not want the sulphur smell and possible check engine light (I know you can get mini O2 spacers to address this)

Just wondering if anyone has fitted catted downpipes yet?

I have just bought a set fabricated by Topgear Eurosport which comes with 200 cell high flow HJS sports cats.

Should arrive tomorrow and will look to get it fitted this month.

I am hoping this will improve exhaust sound. My exhaust is otherwise completely stock (since I am in the UK it also has an OPF filter sadly).

If not, then the next mod would be to either do a OPF delete, or completely swap the mid-section out for a mid-pipe... but one step at a time!

Anyone else gone down this route? I think Manhart have a video with catted downpipes but they also have some other mods done to the exhaust so not a good comparison.

Will do! The seller has agreed to refund me 30% once I provide them with sound clips (this is the first catted downpipes they've fabricated for the G80).

I also found a video on YouTube with OPF and mid-pipe resonator delete + 200 cell catted downpipes:

i installed the active autowerke catted downpipe on my G82. No fuel smell, no check engine light, nice increase in sound. the biggest difference is during cold start and wide-open throttle. Regular driving is close to stock

These do not seems to be HJS cats because they havent the winded design, but generic 200cells, theses downpipes are in fact chinese DP, made by CGW exhaust.

The downpipes were fabricated here in the UK by a well known exhaust fabricator Topgear (https://www.topgear.co.uk/exhausts) - definitely not Chinese DP. Topgear is a well known company here and they do all fabrication in house.

I have in writing confirmed by them that the cats used are HJS 200 cell sport cats - I guess I just have to take their word for it

I don't see why they would have to lie about the cats used

In other news, I had the downpipes fitted yesterday and definitely has improved the exhaust note. The burbles are a lot deeper and more aggressive.

I will upload some video clips tomorrow but I am very happy with it!

Is that the only exhaust mod? Did you notice increase in power and throttle response? Any rasp?

I was thinking about going 200 cell + full exhaust (secondary cat delete), but worried about the raspiness.

Just 200 cell downpipe might do the trick?

Any updates on additional exhaust changes?
I've got an OPF car as well and really don't know which route to take…

Yes only exhaust mod - I did notice a slight improvement in throttle response as the exhaust is less restricted now

No raspiness at all - just more burbles.

I have ordered a full catback system from the same company that I got the 200 cell downpipes from (there is a video on their product page - Google: Topgear Eurosport G80 catback)... but I am now worried it will be too loud... should be here in 4 weeks or so

If it is too loud, I will probably get an exhaust shop to weld a silencer on each side of the mid-pipe

Was thinking about the catback aswell, however they only offer chrome tips… Did you order them with chrome tips?

Mine are coming with chrome tips but I have also ordered carbon tips from them - it's an extra cost and unfortunately you can't swap the chrome tips... so basically I will have extra chrome tips which I will never use

If you don't mind me asking, what did you pay in total for the cat-back? Really tempted to get this over the Remus one.

Pretty much the quoted price on their UK website in £

I got a small discount as I ordered it through a local garage who is a reseller for Topgear Eurosport procuts

I am still waiting to be quoted a price for the carbon tips but it's in the region of £250 I think

The person that was dealing with my query (Sam) emailed me last week that he is off due to COVID so expect some delay in response.

I think he's the only one that looks after the G80 products
