New Technical Service Bulletin TSB For G80/G82/G83 - Inspecting Battery Insert

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
I got a call from my SA yesterday about what he termed a "Recall" for something having to do with my battery, but he had no specific info at that time. So I booked an appointment for this morning. Turns out it is a Service Information Bulletin that potentially affects all of our cars. I will post the bulletin here, and let it speak for itself.

Thanks. I'm taking my car in for warranty work tomorrow. I'll bring it up to my SA.

G82 != M3 Sedan
G83 != M4 Coupe

I'm guessing the second column should have been coupe & convertible.

If you haven't already done so, have them install the Software Update at the same time. Saves you the trouble, and you will end up with the newer 2021.11.30 version as opposed to the 2021.07.50 version being installed via "over the air update".

Unless you've coded anti-dazzle, then avoid it like the plague.

I had my car serviced yesterday and they did this. It was not clearly explained to me what the recall was. I will say it's a very minor 'procedure' as I was in & out of the dealer in an hour

Mine is still on the old version, will let them know to update it.

No anti-dazzle as of yet. Will it not work on the new code?

Someone please post a picture of the "battery insert"

(once you know what it is) so we can all check our cars and ensure we have (or don't) have one.

Thanks!

Yes, but you have to code it again. If you did it yourself, maybe not a big deal.

Could you please elaborate? Antidazzle? I haven't done any BimmerCode stuff to my g80 and am confused about whether or not I should have dealer perform software update given the question above. Additionally, I check regularly for software updates and don't seem to have any since taking ownership of my g80. I took ownership in 09/2021 for a 2022 comp x drive. Also, I see "0 open recall for 2022 m3 comp x drive" Please advise.

BimmerCode can't code anti dazzle. You need esys, or like many here, I paid someone to code it.

As far as what it is, just Google it. Look for videos.

Oh, and if you haven't coded yet, then yes, you should absolutely have the dealership update you. No downside.

Kind of strange that they got the model designations wrong in the bulletin.

I did it two weeks ago. You should be getting a notice on your "myBMW" app stating that the update is available. You then download it on the app. After the download is complete, you will then connect your phone to your car through wifi and download the update to the car. The whole process takes about an hour and half.

The iDrive system will prompt you to do the update when it is available for your VIN. No action is needed by you.

Says no update for my 22 M3. Maybe the Germans forgot about me since I'm stick.

They do a gradual roll-out by region. Yours should be available soon.

I'm a stick too. However my car is a 2021. I've had it since July 16th.
