Carbon Fiber Spoiler

Well that was the most stressful thing I've done in quite awhile

Looks good from what I can see.

I've been contemplating getting the carbon fiber spoiler and diffuser.

Also, did you have any issues obtaining the spoiler? Someone rear ended me and I need a new diffuser. The body shop claimed that it's backordered so I'm screwed for a bit unless I can find another option.

No issues at all. Best bet is to google the part #. That's how I found the spoiler

I love it...looks great. Other than aftermarket wheels that I completed, I was not thinking of any other mods but a Stage I Dinan tune. After these pix, I think I'm in. Are you able/willing to post more of a step-by-step?? Or at least, was it particularly hard getting the old one off? Looks like adhesive tape only, right? Any drilling for the new part?

Does a stage I Dinan tune void warranty?

I didn't take pictures of step by step. But it wasn't hard per se... Just nerve racking not knowing how it would turn out being as; as far as I know, I'm the first to try it. Thankfully it wasn't too bad.

Old Spoiler
Step 1. Heat gun to the existing spoiler to loosen up the double sided tape.
Step 2. Use fishing line in a sawing motion while pulling up, as to not saw into trunk paint.
Step 3. Use a 3m wheel eraser (Amazon) at low to moderate speeds to remove tape from trunk.
Step 4. Wipe down trunk with adhesive remover to remove small leftover bits.
Step 5. Wipe down with alcohol.

New spoiler
Step 1. Wipe down contact points with alcohol.
Step 2. Let dry then apply 3m Automotive Tape
Step 3. Use painters tape to help align/hold spoiler to desired position. Once happy with placement.
Step 4. Remove backing from 3m and apply pressure.
Boom. New spoiler lol
Hope that's helpful.

Pumped to see some distanced pics, looks great thus far!

The M spoiler really seems to improve the rear, squaring off the top a bit more. Seems like a must-have on the G42.

That is a huge help....thank you!

It does look great, and yes, I think you're the first to do it...certainly the first to share it.

Congrats on the new car too, BTW. I have a 230i, but I hear the M240 is a monster! Enjoy.

Happy to see progress on some builds! I saw this spoiler in the catalog and was on the fence about it. It looks great against the purple!

Looks great!!

I don't have the same hate for the rear end as some people, but I do think that the spoiler is a huge improvement.

The bigger spoiler makes the rear end look less "squished." Looks much better IMO.

I kinda want it but I'm not a big carbon fiber guy. Hmmm

Is the "XDrive" badge on the rear stuck on with adhesive or is it drilled into the trunk?

The spoiler looks great on your car! I'd like to see it on a lighter colored car since there'd be a lot more contrast.

I haven't found out officially, but I think no, it doesn't. It's also not out yet for this version of the B48, so...just waiting. I think there's a warranty fee you can add to it that may supplement the warranty.

Ever since Steve Dinan sold "Dinan" and started his own company CarBahn Autoworks, I'm just not sure.

I would be very surprised if you're able to retain any of your factory powertrain warranty after a tune.

The option you're referring to replaces your warranty by one provided by Dinan.

Does anyone have any experience with other brands of carbon fiber spoilers? After seeing G42Bama's install from behind, I definitely like the profile from the back and would consider getting one. What appear to be reputable brands are offering spoilers for the G20 for $300-400 and I am wondering if its worth waiting to save the money or get the OEM one.

it's definitely worth the wait.
OEM carbon fiber tend to be overprice.
