Joe Achilles RWD vs. AWD

Obviously he prefers the AWD which makes sense. But now i finally understand why he prefers it when i think the AWD is totally unnessecary : he drives the RWD with all protection settings off....

In that case i can understand the AWD makes a lot more sense. For me : i just drive my RWD with all protections on and have no traction issues as well....

I still would buy the AWD though when i had to order now, but i still love my RWD

I don't have my M4 yet so I can only speak about my experiences owning a M2 Comp. If you leave DSC on, the car leaves A LOT on the table. Even rolling acceleration is MUCH better with MDM or DSC off. If you're happy where you're at, I don't want to change your mind but once you spend time in MDM or DCSC off, you'll see how much it wakes up the car.

When I first owned my M2 Comp, I started with DSC on 100% of the time. The car felt wrong. I felt slow, even with everything in Sport Plus. Again, once I switched to MDM, OMG, then I had the car that everyone was talking about!

Yeah, unless you're on the highway at higher speeds, you really do feel how much better it is with mdm or traction off.

0Myskill level won't let me turn off all of the nannies. Maybe if I were 20 years younger and did not fear death or the fact I could total a 80k car, maybe. I won't track my car and too many cars and police on the roads to hooligan but I can still enjoy the car. I do see the value in AWD and if I were to order another one, I may order it in AWD.

If i remember correct one of the biggest improvements for this generation M3/M4 is that things like DSC are now controlled directly by the engine management system, which is supposedly making the system something like 7 - 8 times faster than before. I think this is one of the main reasons the RWD has such excellent traction (when you leave all the systems on). Ofcourse though the AWD has even more traction, but for me in the real world i have no complaints with the RWD. But i never turn things completely off (only drive in MDM sometimes which is set under my M2 memory button)
