A what point do you decide to wait for 2023?
I'm waiting on my allocation. But I'm also not in a hurry.
With delays, seems like 3-4 months for delivery at least these days. Assuming I place an order by January and get a car by April / May, that's not far off from the 2023 reveal. At what point would you wait? Last edited by MunkyTool; 11-06-2021 at 10:05 PM.. |

I would do anything I could to get one before MY23 given the current information pointing towards the cars getting those big ass screens for iDrive 8. Just doesn't seem fitting for a car like the M3/4.
However, if you are interested in getting a 2023 keep in mind that production of those likely won't start until July of next year so you likely wouldn't actually see the car until late August or early September.

I suspect many people waiting for an allocation are already going to be getting 2023s. I see a lot of posts where people are 8+ people deep in a waiting list. Build weeks for early next year are already popping up on the forum, and they already have production numbers!

Honestly, in my opinion you find whatever allocation you can get the soonest and go with it. There is so much uncertainty with availability, logistics, and even the options that they are going to be able to offer consistently, that I would take the first production number I could wrap my hands on.

Any chance a lifecycle impulse refresh will modify the beaver teeth?

Why wait? This car and chip shortage will prolly last into 2024. Might as well just get on a list now and just see what u get. If you wait till next year, same issue could happen…takes 6-9 months to get a car and at that point, wait for a 2024

True. I'm next up on a list at a dealer so only considering waiting because by the time I get my 2022 a 2023 will likely be announced in the next few months. Not in a hurry to get a car so was just curious what other thought.

Depends on a few things. If it's a decent size dealer, they're definitely getting more M4 allocations than M3 (it was probably 10-1 a few months ago, though that could have changed). So if they're a decent sized dealership, there's a good chance you could get an allocation soon, and the car would most likely be here 2-3 months after you order.
