Has anyone tried removing the stock air box and throwing on some cone filters? While using the bottom half of the stock housing for a place where the cones can sit? t the moment I have drop in filters on order, but I'm debating if putting the filters in and removing the charcoal filters will create any extra sound :/

There is an entire thread on this topic with step by step direction on how to build your own intake.

If you are going for intake sound, go with the cone setup. Drop in filters won't create a noticeable volume difference.
