Where's the M Performance Exhaust Option? Or is stock good enough?

Ordering my M4 Competition X-Drive and I don't see an M Performance Exhaust option. It's also not in the ShopBMWUSA site. Both my F80 M3 and my M3 CS had the MPE and honestly, I didn't like how they sounded with the stock exhaust. So I have a few questions:

1) When will the G8X MPE be available? Can I get it later and will it include a carbon fiber diffuser for the center exhaust look?

2) Does the G8X stock exhaust sound as good as the F80 with an MPE? Might be a dumb question, but you never know. I'm guessing not since EU regulations are stricter. Does anyone have a video clip of both side by side?

3) Any good aftermarket titanium options? I am mainly looking for weight reduction AND sound, but I don't care about cat deletes. I want it to be legal.

The G8X MPE is already available, not sure how to order it in the USA but there's more info here:

https://www.bmw-m.com/en/topics/maga...bmw-m3-m4.html

Crucially the big difference is the MPE exhaust layout is a bit different (centered quad exhaust) so it might not be to everyone's liking.

Latest I have been told is mid-late October in the US. You can certainly pay for it now, but none are available.

They also don't really sound any louder/better... though you do save a few kilos in weight. Hardly worth the ~$10k price (including lower rear valance update).

I kind of like how it's more unique. It's becoming more common for me to see factory vehicles with rear diffusers and dual exhausts (looking at you Toyota Camry & Corolla), so this looks a bit more 'performance' oriented (purely aesthetically).

Found this photo somewhere on Instagram, it doesnt look that bad. I might actually consider it once I hear more of it.

I personally love the look, to each his own, but not for a $10k price-tag. I got the performance exhaust on my 2016 I think it was less than half the price. Seems excessive.

I'll give it "unique" but that's as far as I'll go. I wouldn't stick this on my car if it was a free option.

MPE on my F80s we're $5-6k a piece. I think the CF rear diffuser was another $2k, which isn't necessary, but completes the look. $10k for the G8X exhaust plus cf center diffuser is about $2k more than the F80 exhaust plus diffuser, so it's not really double, but still excessive. I bet if it weren't for any shortages, you could get 15-20% off the parts.

Still, it doesn't seem worth it given the overall quality of the last MPE. I've had to replace both of mine for various reasons, all under warranty, but still.

The F80 MPE was a big improvement over stock. Is this one not because of new EU regulations?

Maybe/probably. Here's two bookmarks from the same video...

Before (stock) (go to 0:35)
After (MPE) (go to 6:46):

IMHO, the improvement in sound is pretty minor... likely because the cats and resonators/filters are still in place.

I like it. Hence my avatar. I also heard it was going to be $10K, but which option is this for? Im hearing there is going to be a cut up design, axle back, like this, and there will also be a full replacement system.

For future reference, I've done all of the legwork in collecting the part numbers for the system. Prices aren't as bad as they seem.

It looks like there are a few companies that list the exhaust in US dollars, and the center exit is just over $5,100. The rear diffuser, about $1,700, and the tailpipe and bracket kit is about $1,200. If you factor in a decent discount, you can probably have the entire system, for about $7,500.

Rear Diffuser Center Exit: 51-19-5-A19-8B5

Center Exit Tailpipe and Bracket Kit: 18-30-5-A23-286

Center Exit Exhaust: 18-30-5-A23-283

Hard pass…for under 5k you can get something more “M heritage” instead of this Lexus LFA thing that will probably won’t sound much different or loud than an aftermarket.

By the time you're done with your car, its going to be the most expensive G8X. I've seen you mention no less than 10 times what your MSRP is lol.

that Individual Orange Studie AG car has me beat, and always will. Full M Carbon package, with side skirts, flicks, and wing. Plus the 1000M wheels and tires are like $7k. Exhaust is another $7k plus I believe it has the KW adjustable coilovers. Those are like $5k. Carbon buckets I didn't spec. And theirs is RWD. They probably have me by at least $25k.

Why why why why why is every exhaust video always like a foot and a half away from the car!? They NEVER sound right that close.

(not bashing you NightWriter, thanks for the posting the vid actually)

Oh, it's even worse when the comparison is between two different cars in different spots/garages with the microphone closer (hence louder) to the MPE... (and possibly different microphone equipment/settings entirely, which makes it completely apples-to-oranges). Looking at you, BMWBlog...

If it was free it would still be overpriced. Looks like it belongs on a Lexus.
