Tire Size for 19/20 comp wheels

What is the widest tire that we can fit on the rear 20's?

Planning on putting 295 cup 2's on in a few weeks. Hoping there's a chance a 305 would fit but I doubt it... just want to find out anyway.

The only star mark tires available in Cup2 are the Connect- and only in the sizes that are OEM for the car. 275/35/19 and 285/30/20
https://www.michelinman.com/auto/tir...port-cup-2-240

They are Michelin PNs: 88406 (Front) and 53157 (rear)

Any other size will not be the Star and have different compounding. IF youre getting Cup 2s, you should get the right tire that was engineered specifically for this car.
Incidentally, if you are not tracking regularly you should stick with the MpS4s's. Thats whats on my car, and they performed great.

I am putting Cup 2s on a dedicated set of 963M wheels for track usage only.

Everyone with this "star" talk. 9/10 drivers won't notice the difference and if you're getting cup2 tires you probably dont need to worry about it.

99% confident that 305's won't fit on the rear. I just went with non-star spec Cup 2's (275 F, 295 R). This is what I ran on my old M4.

For your dedicated 963M, what size rim are you going with? I have the 19 / 20” setup and was wondering if other guys who track have dropped the rim size to the 18/19” or if 18” front and back would work?

Got my 963m wheels today mounted with Cup2 * connects. Sold by alloy wheels direct, Shipped from Germany - mounted, balanced with roundels and tpms installed.

Will see how the car looks with them on next time on track hopefully next Friday but its a track only set, so I really don't care about the aesthetics.

EAS flickr has a car with the mercedes specific 295/30/20 Cup 2 tire on it, standard 275/35/19 up front. Looks perfect.

I don't know. That rear tire looks nascar side wall bulgy to me. (no offense to the owner)

I would rather get a x11.5 wide rim for a 305 and it be square or every so slightly / \ tilted inward with an x12" wheel which I like even more.

Here is 305 on a 12" wide wheel and 305 on a 11.5". I prefer the look on the left myself.

I'm the opposite, any time a tire has a stretched look I think it looks bad. Cup2's in general don't have that trait because of how the sidewall is designed.

To me this is perfect tire fitmet:

Its all good. We all like what we like. But yea, that would be a no go on my 911. I mean if I was a track star, I could maybe see rocking that just for the cup2 tires sake.

But from a daily driver standpoint on a lowered BMW sedan. I would rather have a 305 on a 11.5" wheel all day long. To me thats not stretched. Its "slim fit" lol.

This is stretched to me.

Funny you posted that because this is actually my car . I need a bigger spacer up front.

I like the meaty tire look on M cars. It's all just personal preference, as BIGWORM said. But if you choose to run Cup's then you don't really have much of a choice haha

LOL! Im sorry Tom. You car is all over this place! No offense meant big guy.

We all like what we like and its all good to me! Function over form always wins so I know what you mean. I just have not had the pleasure of experiencing sport cups to know what I'm missing.

The wider tire is for grip on track and a stiffer side wall. It's not for cruising the Wall Mart parking lot on a Friday night. Lol

I actually like the Chunky tire too. Seems to look purposeful. The rubber band look is a disaster with pot holes too..

None taken! The picture on the left of that daytona f80 looks way better by the way, so we are in agreement on that.

Unfortunately these pictures that are circulating were taken before I dialed-in the front spacers/fitment haha.

I may get flak for running Cup 2's for daily driving.. but once I felt the difference compared to the PS4S's I couldn't go back. The difference in turn-in precision, handling (car handles like its on railroad tracks), and traction during 2nd gear pulls is huge. I initially thought the difference wouldn't be that big between the two products. Once I went stage 2 on my old M4 I absolutely needed these on the rear. Will be the same scenario once tunes are available for the g8x.

I get about 10k miles per set, which translate to new tires once a year. I'm OK with that. On the east coast, no shot I'd ever run these on the street. Would be pointless. But here in OC the roads are entirely different - long, open, sweeping highways - and make it worth it. Hopefully you win the tire lottery with your g80 and get the michelins. I would've left those on mine until they needed replacement, but unfortunately I got the P-zeros and I hate that tire.
