19" square set up/classic wheel look for track/auto cross

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
First off, I am sure this is not going to be every one’s cup of tea, but this is me wanting to marry the radical new design from BMW and a classic wheel look.

I am in love with how meaty these look and the fitment is perfect, the front needs lowered for sure.

Specs
Kansei KNP 19x9.5 +22 offset, Front 12mm and rear 15mm spacers
Tires Falken RT660 275/35-19

This is my track/auto cross set up now to the pics.

It's definitely interested and different. I don't hate it, doesn't look bad. But can't say I prefer it over some other wheel selections.

Love the meaty tire look though.

Yea I wanted that meaty look, I hate the big wheel and skinny tire trend. And most people I figured will go with the classic European look for wheels which is good, I wanted something different.

I think the meatier/thicker spokes like this really compliment this car in general.

I know what you mean, it looks purposeful and utilitarian. It means business, not a show pony!

Really liking the track-ready look on the G80!

Would love to hear your thoughts how it effects the handling and feel of the ride. Many people talk about the cost benefit of running smaller wheels when you’re going through tires, not as much on dynamics though

Thanks!

It doesn’t look good but if it’s a track setup then who really cares. Interested in how the sidewall play with this suspension. May gain some compliance at the limit.

I don't feel one way or another regarding the wheels, what I don't understand is the sizing.

9.5 square is completely insufficient for the G8X. Even in the ancient E46 days, the square setup to have is 10" square. On the E9X and F8X it's 10.5 square.

The G8X weighs more than the F8X, I'd be looking to maximize the wheel width and go for a square 11 or 11.5 if it fits

While I get your point, 9.5 allows for better tire choices especially in 19inch there aren’t a lot of 200TW in 20x11 or 19x10.5 while it might be undersized to you, I have found it to work great on track. If I was to make the car a track car only than I would go wider but it also means bigger spacers and so on.

Also the weight argument is almost negligible I can attest to that. On another note after 6000 miles and 4 track days I had to replace the front brake pads already!

Not feeling it. As long as op likes it, that's all that matters.

I also suspect it looks better in person.

To my eyes, this is easily the best looking G80 I've seen—-and i am not really a fan of this generation.

Would look even better without the intrusive side skirts IMO.

simplicity is the best!

I dig it, reminds of some of the 60's/70's classic muscle from Europe and America. Nice upgrade!

Looks like my buddy @squatchmedia got some good shots of you during Urban City Takeover at Autobahn. It's amazing how "track focused" this configuration looks at speed.
