Car and Driver Tested Review: 2021 BMW M4 Delivers What Matters
Car and Driver has posted their full review of the 2021 BMW M4: FULL REVIEW: https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews...y-the-numbers/ HIGHS: The ripping pull of the twin-turbo six, there's still a manual and it's lovely, the handling and performance that made M cars famous, plenty comfortable. VERDICT: The new M4 is a daily driver, a track car, and everything in between.

It's a good review, I got my mag yesterday. It drives great, has a reasonable price and works as a daily driver as well as a track car.
Oh and also, you can just buy one. No selling your soul to Satan to get an allocation, or sacrificing your first born to be allowed to spend your hard earned money on one. You just go into a dealership and order it. Good work BMW |

The onslaught of positive reviews really tempts me to part with my beloved E92.
I take their point that there may be too many settings and they could have just left a sparse few but at the end of the day, an enthusiast will fiddle about with the settings as much as we can to discern the tangible differences. Equally, we could leave the beast in a couple of settings for daily driving and twisty deserted road antics. The beauty about it is having them available to, as C&D themselves put it years ago, transform the car like a tiger cub, cuddly one minute and ferocious the next. |

12 sec @120 mph 1/4 is pretty impressive for a manual car, especially when you compare this to 2014 base C7 7MT (my last car) which ran 12.2 @118mph (though the Vette 'feels' way faster down low due to its massive torque)

“Do whatever it takes to ignore the new BMW M4's toothy grille and just drive it.”
Absolutely this. I was down on the design like everyone else back in September at launch, but I test drove one vigorously and trading in my M2C became inevitable. M2C drove way better than the F80/82 while keeping the S55; driving the G82 M4 made me immediately realize that I can have those driving dynamics and more and restore all the higher-Series bells and whistles. The additional power is the least interesting part of the G8x story. |

That's what I was thinking. Likewise the 3.8 0-60 is pretty good for the manual. Looking forward to seeing what a bone stock AWD one will do, that'll be a monster

LOWS: Competitors have better steering feel, the digital tach is hard to read at a glance, these things are getting kind of big, all the gimmicky settings. That damn thick ass wheel deadens any steering feel. I do like the chunky M steering wheels though. So I guess I'll sacrifice the steering chatter and feedback. Never a huge fan of the digital guage cluster myself, I think BMW can and will do better later. Thank goodness for the HUD. And I love having all the settings, so that doesn't bother me. I'll pick what I like and save them. C&D can be quite critical, so if this is the worst list of negatives they can come up with, BMW built a helluva car. |

Very balanced review of a vehicle equally balanced to perform as a daily driver or on the track. I think the new M4 is a winner.
Digital gauges have their fair share of fans and reluctant buyers. I prefer gauges in my F36. It would be nice for BMW offer digital / analog equivalent gauges as a configurable user selectable option. |

He mentions the GT4 a lot, but it's not a direct comparison. A coupe vs a sports car, front vs mid engine.
Of course the M4 won't be as engaging. The Cayman isn't as comfortable. Choose what matters more.

The fact that it even comes close is worthy of For that reason, I can deal with the gauges I don't love, and some pumped in sound (hopefully remedied later with coding). As for the grill, all the more reason for people to move the hell out of the way when they see me coming - an intimidating face indeed in your rear view mirror. |

Good news - I hope the car sells well. I'm still having a hard time adopting the new tech like e-parking brake, digital dash etc and as for the looks - well either you do or you don't like them. I'm in the latter gruop currently. Maybe a test drive will soften my resistance on that point.

@Jason, too sensitive to post the lows?
LOWS: Competitors have better steering feel, the digital tach is hard to read at a glance, these things are getting kind of big, all the gimmicky settings. By all accounts a great car.

It's a little hard to digest that BMW's competition has better steering feel....
