Major takeaway: "if you hadn't been told the weights [of the Alfa QV and the M3C] you'd think the M3 was the lighter one."

Serious kudos to BMW for the engineering on this.

Thanks for posting. The video says the Alfa has a dual clutch transmission. Just confirming this is a typo. Thought they used the ZF.

The weight of the Alfa is wrong in that video...

Alfa quotes 1733kg for the Quadrofoglio and we've seen M4 Comp weigh in at 1695kg in real world.

So in fact, the M3 is probably the lighter car of those two in the video... Which kinda explains why the car feels lighter 😉

That's very interesting given the BMW specs indicate the new models are anywhere from around 1740kb to 1770kg.

Regardless of what the manufacturers say, real world measurements and how they feel and perform will matter most. I can say in my limited time in the G80 (base 6MT model), it felt about the same or on par as when I toss around the Alfa. Neither car feels particularly small/light compared to my F80 at times but both the Alfa and G80 really handle their weight super well.

"If you hadn't been lied to about the weight of the Alfa, you'd think the M3 was the lighter one"

Would have been the more accurate thing for Sutcliffe to say.

Regardless of the weight, the next iteration of the Alpha has a ways to go to stay in the same league as the G80 now.

That Alfa weighs anywhere between 1595kg and 1620kg in Europe depending on your information source but nowhere near the 1700kg mark. So before you start accusing someone of lying better check your facts first.

Yeah, except that motortrend put it on a scale and it weighed 1620kg. The real question is why are the weights for that car all over the map?

Do you think maybe it's because Italian car makers are famous for underreporting how much their cars weigh.
