Not quite their "Supertest" yet, but here is the first test of Sport Auto with a manual (!) G82 on Hockenheim GP.
There is a short article about this car in the recent issue of Auto-Motor-Sport (thus the different driver in the picture), a stripper with the factory track pack - CCB, Cup2 tires, the carbon bucket seats. The driver doing the Hockenheim lap is Uwe Sener, their Hockenheim specialist. Quite a fight but also quite fast for a manual. Edit: Tires were in fact PS4S! Though they were pre-heated for the fast lap. Last edited by petrolhead.; 04-10-2021 at 09:35 AM.. |

Base car, 6-speed & PS4S tires. Seems to have more oversteering than I remember from the track reviews from other journalists (could be a result of different driving styles, corner layout, road conditions, car conditions etc.). The lap time was not ideal given that there was too much slip in the last corner of the previous lap, nevertheless 1:55:6 seems to be a bit underwhelming comparing with GT4 (Supertest), M5 Comp, A45S (Supertest), M2CS (Pre-production)...etc.?

It is a great time instead considering the street tires (PS4S).
The M5 is on another power level, the M2CS had Cup2 and the A45 even had Trofeo R (!), basically a track tyre that is almost unusable on the road, look at the laptime of the A45 with PS4S. Huge difference from the tyres. |

The fact that a 6MT is up there on street tires with a lot of really great automobiles is a testament to the car and this guy's driving ability.
This is my fav G82 video by far and it humbles me as a 6MT driver. My pathetic attempts to heel-toe under similar circumstances would have added a solid 45 seconds lol.

Measured 1675 Kg, 4.3s 0-100 and 14.1 0-200.
Quite a bit slower than the manual base F80 (1592kg, 4.2 0-100 and 13.6 0-200), so the lap time is even more impressive! The great chassis makes up for the weight and engine. |

Impressive all things considered. Looks like fun, but doesn't look like a "best lap" video. Looks like several tenths could have been lost on corner exits alone.

Looks like gearbox is quite crisp-shifting and quick in that video. To me it sems like worthwhile improvement over my M235i. Or maybe I just suck.

And M5 is more powerful ( 10% more power to weight ratio) with superior ZF transmission...
