Current issue of German AutoBild sportscars had the supertest of M4 Competition.

Weight was 1695 kg with TrackPackage.
Laptime at track Sachsenring was 1:32,76 with Michelin Cup2 tyres.
This is 0,4s behind Porsche 992 Carrera S, and 0,4s faster than the M4 GTS.

Great review and also interesting to see a Comp model weighing in at 1695kg (3733lbs)!
Compares well with the weight of the manual car and the "lightweight" manual std model from the BMW video.

A more realistic power test (compared to Dynojets etc) shows 522hp and 665Nm which is in line with factory figures.

Their verdict ("Fazit") is also interesting:

"Bravo BMW! The new M4 is fast like a 911, but not a 911 copy, which squats dull over the track and can seem emotionless. Precision and fun to drive is a better description (for the M4). And about the kidneys; you get used to everything".

It's "just" 94kg (207lbs) heavier than the GTS (1601kg vs 1695kg).

It has more tire on the ground and probably better bracing to support/stiffen suspension pickup points. However it has std suspension and not coilovers like the GTS. So it's quite impressive yes.

This gen M3/M4 has the potential to be the largest leap between generations in track performance in the history of M3/M4...

Not surprised actually, Bmw already claimed that with cup tires the new M4 would have been faster on the track than the M4 GTS. Promise kept.

These results are obvious the second after you steer into your first high-speed turn. This car is a weapon.

The F82 M4 Std SA time is a few seconds slower than it should have been.

G8x SA Nordschleife time of 7:34 - 7:39 is what I'm expecting to see.

Thanks for the info and prediction on SA time (which usually is a bit slower than factory lap times for obvious reasons) 😊
If G8x SA time is 7:34-7:39, that would be right there with the F82 GTS 👍

To be clear, with "squats dull over the track and can seem emotionless" they did not mean the 911 either I think. They just say the M4 isn't that.

They did mean the 911 as I understood the original text in German.

That resonates with some other comparison reviews of the 911, it's a surgical instrument but could have been more fun/playful.
I guess it depends on preferences as well.

Yup. The non-GT 992 have lost the playful hair trigger character of old. The harder you push, the more distant it becomes.

I think it has more to do with *DON'T CRASH THE PRESS CAR".

3rd party Insurance coverage in the event of a brown incident during a timed Nordschleife lap is a tricky subject.

A very impressive showing indeed.

A few precision points, the G82 tested here only has marginally wider front tires than the F82 CS/GTS (275 vs 265) and same rear size. I believe the main difference regarding the tires is from the latest gen PSC2. Pretty cool that they tested both the PS4S and PSC2.

Regarding chassis bracing, there is no indication that the G8X has superior bracing over the F8X. IMO, chassis improvements stem from the wider track and latest gen suspension tech (EDC).

With a 7.8s 100-200km/h, the S58 is mightily impressive too!

1,595kg is a nice surprise. What strikes me is the weight distribution: 57/43 . That's Audi territory. EDIT: it is a typo in the picture, the tech sheet shows the correct 53/47 distribution.

Something is wrong with the weight distribution, I assume they meant 53/47 (799/896->47.1/52.9).
