Weight of G80 M3 Competition w/ auto and standard seats = 3767 lbs

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Had a chance to weigh the new m3 today. It's a g80 m3 comp auto with standard seats.

Weighed in at 3767lbs with 1/8 tank of fuel. I thought it would be heavier but still no light weight.

Nice and thanks for sharing!

Way off an M5, more bad news for the haters. When it rains it pours.
Note: 47/53 weight distribution. A shift forward of ~1% vs F8X I believe.

F80 was like 3600 lbs with a stripper car right? I think bmw shifted to weighing cars with some of the optional equipment that you'd expect to see in an actual street car which could make 100 pounds or more of a difference

Everyone is going to give you different numbers. Here is BMW US official curb weight numbers for 2019 M4. Note that it’s with full tank. I’m sure some members with DCT have gotten less on their scales. Still it gives us a very good idea that the G8X isn’t the 4000+ lbs porker some stated as more or less gospel based on shaky euro weights.

This picture also have weight distribution which with DCT isn’t far off the AT G80.

I’d conclude that BMW did a damn good job controlling the weight of the G8X taken the growth in size, bigger tires etc.

So 200~235lb heavier than a DCT F80 according to C&D weighing:

Sub 3,700 might be borderline. BMW already showcased a "light" M4 6MT at 1,674kg (3,690lb), adding ~10lb for the M3 body would put it right at the 3,700lb mark.

This car just keeps getting better and better.

Frankly, this is another very successful product from BMW M sans the polarizing look. Practically everyone has had great things to say about the G8x driving experience.

Thanks for the info. Unless I'm missing something (as noone's asking), what are the options on your G80? I take it that the G80 is yours from the title to this thread and presumably all fluids are full except for the fuel tank at 1/8.

To try to provide a useful data point here: my F82 w/ DCT & Exec Pack weighed in at 3661 lbs with 3/4 of a tank (could have been more, can’t remember exactly) and random junk in the boot (nothing heavy tho). Apples to apples I'm guessing a typical RWD G8X C will likely be about 38-3850 lbs which seems to be in line with what “reviewers” are quoting from their spec sheets

It just keeps getting better and better, the propagandist's are being proven wrong. That's the best news ever, anything under 3800lbs for the automatic is impressive in my book considering all the standard kit these cars comes with. Lighter than the G20 since the RWD M340i is about 3849lbs per C+D tester.

I hope one of the quality mags or YT reviewer do a comprehensive F82C vs G82C shootout. Same drivers, same track, same drag strip, same day, same scales, similar configuration.. I’m really curious to see how they compare in a fair comparison objectively and subjectively. It seems the G82 will thouroughly dominate but maybe some of it is new car launch exuberance. Doubt it though

Important point, the car in the OP is only filled with ~1/8 fuel. So with a full tank it would weigh ~3,850. Not really "below 3,800lb"

M340i tested by C&D are at 3,813~3,827lb

Duly noted! Do you know if C+D accounts for full or half tank in their measurements?

Full tank according to their documented test regimen.

The car is not owned by me (title was edited by administrator for some reason)-just changed it. Weight was with all fluids, (car has been driven for a week). As far as options go, I do not have the Monroney but I could get it. I’ll post it once I do. I don’t know of many options that would add substantial weight besides trans type, seats and CCB’s. This was to get a ballpark idea of what g80 weighs. Is I stated a stripper with manual, carbon seats and carbon ceramics should be easily below 3700lbs. With this base weight I would assume that and awd model weighs 100-125 lbs more so Around 3900lbs. Now an awd with Carbon seats and ccb’s in the 3850 range....still about 400 less than f90 m5. Car will be a beast, I’d get one if I didn’t get nauseous every time I look at the front end of this thing.

Exactly! Add another 85-86lbs for the full tank, which brings the weight figure to ~3850lbs as you said (vs. 3890lbs claimed by BMW USA).

BMW USA is pretty accurate with their curb weight numbers. My 2019 M2C 6MT weighed 3563lbs with full tank while the number on their website was 3600lbs.

True, it looks almost like a wash with the F82 DCT. Slightly more forward 0.5% maybe but not much.
