IND | G82 M4 First Baseline Dyno (Pre-Break In)
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com We arrived at Performance Eurowerks early to give the G82 its first crack (pre-break in) on their new Dynojet 424x with Linx System. Trying to schedule a dyno last minute in the Chicago area can be a challenge - thankfully Alex@PE and his team were able to accommodate us and soon the new M4 was strapped in and ready to roll. The sound of the new S58 motor from BMW M is intoxicating; for as thrilled as we were with the overall step up in performance of the S55 over the out-going S65 at the time, coming from one of BMW's best sounding engines in the S65 was an adjustment and F8x S55 sound never fully connected with the community. Our G82 M4 (non comp, RWD) did surprisingly well, making us wonder if the car is slightly underrated. Assuming an approximate 15% drivetrain loss, that would put the car pre break-in at about 547hp // 480tq to the crank! That being said, we can't wait to get some miles on it and get back on the dyno post break-in service. G82 M4 RWD - non ZCP / 100% stock / pre break-in BMW's Ratings - non ZCP 473hp @ 6250rpm // 406tq @ 2650-6130rpm Our Best Run Pre Break-in - Dynojet 424: IND G82 M4: 464.92hp at 6780rpm // 408.55tq at 4530rpm IND G82 M4 Crank (assuming approximate 15% loss): 547hp // 480tq

No wonder these things are hitting 3.66 to 60! I'm beyond hyped for my xdrive now!
Hopefully someone can get a comp in a dyno next.

Those are very solid numbers. Basically it's putting down at the wheels what is advertised at the crank. Do you anticipate it putting down better numbers once past break-in?

Wouldn't be surprised to see it put down another 3-5% gain after break in period. This must mean the Comp is putting down closer to 500hp/460tq to the wheels, right out of the box.

Bit of a conspiracy but any chance bmw undersold their performance numbers so more folks would hold out for the awd? Lol

Crazy numbers. Seems even more underrated than F8x.

Don't think that makes sense considering the RWD Comp is already available, and the AWD will have the same power as that (but bigger drivetrain losses).

Those are big numbers, everyone said the S58 is a beast. I'm not a fan of the design but those are impressive numbers.

Typical for BMW, that just means the G80 Comp AWD is going to be a monster

Yea good point in the context of what a dyno tells you...thought maybe people would prioritize grip but it sounds like the rwd model has plenty

The $40,000 difference between an M3 and an M5. Lots of SA sell on power and safety features. If you told the 140k customer that he can spend 100k and have almost the same power and safety features, why would he give you the extra 40k? My opinion.

Yep I could definitely see that. Most would probably conclude the g8x is the best performance/$ ratio if they rated it at 540hp. I just can't believe they improved the traction with that much power being put down that is extremely impressive. I thought we were getting pretty close to 'awd is required' territory when trying to improve the f80
