G82 clearly quicker if it hooks well off the line.

AWD will remedy that. A rear engine car is so good at this game, still very impressive of the 380hp Carrera vs a likely under rated 510hp M car to hold on to that jump over near a 1/4 mile.

I wish they measured and showed some numbers for those runs. The numbers Carwow got for 0-60 and 1/4 mile are absolutely bonkers and if repeatable, would be not only very competitive here but also spell out a silly fast car once the AWD variants come out.

Ah yes. ANOTHER drag race with an M car vs something and AGAIN the M cannot launch properly. Glad that BMW thinks this is a feature and not a bug....

Drivers probably can't launch the BMW correctly, not exactly their fault and BMW doesn't help by making launch control on M cars more difficult than it should be. BMW launch control works, you just have to do the entire process to the letter as it's outlined in the manual and let it build boost before letting off. At least that's what some YouTube videos say.

AWD is not going to be helpful. The M3 in RWD already launches with no slip at all, in this video and in CARWOW's.

It's the slow build up of the boost that costs the game.

Never had any problems with launch control in my X3M - simply because I read the manual before messing around with the car. It's really not that difficult.

BMW is getting pretty good at getting their awd turbo automatic cars to launch better. I have a tune only M8 on really bad pZero tires and just brake boosting getting 0-60mph in mid 2's. I bet the M3 awd launches well.

There’s no slip because it’s launch control. It cuts power before visible slip occurs. A car with this much power will roast the tires if all power is let loose from standstill. With AWD a good LC will not cut power until after sending power to all 4 wheels and sensing slip. Big difference.

I predict in the area of 0.2s faster 0-60 and 1/4 mile with AWD.

Wait what? How would the car both pushing and pulling not equate to being helpful? It hooked up but I've no doubt there's still some computer elements controlling it. AWD is just foot to the floor and 100% power down every time.
I'm gonna guess 3.4 to 60 easily with the awd

Id have preferred to see the M3/M4 vs the 911 S. Not the "dentist spec" base 911.

Trust me, those days are over. The base is a serious car now. Don’t tell anyone though, allocations are scarce as it is

But S/4S is so much better than the base, it's not even funny.

Well.. 97 launch controls left to go now for that car. (assuming the new G8xs get the same dumb limits)?

And the Turbo over the S and the GT3 over the Turbo and the GT2 over the GT3...

The thing is that the base felt underpowered before it got FI and an M3 was a better package. Now the base doesn’t feel anything like underpowered, it goes like stink and feels very much like a sports car and worthy of the chassis.

Well of course, purely from an acceleration performance standpoint...but they'd have to gloss over the fact that those cars are so much more expensive than the M3/M4 that it's an irrelevant comparison.
