Official TANZANITE BLUE II G80 M3 / G82 M4 Thread

Have any of you seen Tanzanite Blue on an F80 and Tanzanite Blue II on a G80 in person? Or both colors in the same photo side by side (since light conditions make this color look so different)? Do you think these really look the same (BMW claims it's just a new name because it's a new paint supplier)? TB II looks a lot darker to me than TB.

This video finally pushed me over the edge on my color choice. I was going back and forth between TB2, IOMG, BSM, and DG. TB2 looks so good, has enough pop with the metallic to be unique but its not too loud like IOMG (though I still love this color).

I think I've finally settled on TB2, with bi-color 825ms, red calipers, carbon package, and I'll get my pop of color by going Fiona full red leather interior on the non bucket seats. My dealership said I am top of the list for allocations in June so fingers crossed.

I finally picked up my new G80 today after ordering on March 6th!

The spec:

6 speed manual
Tanzanite Blue II on Full Kyalami Orange
Premium Pack, Black 826Ms
Shadowline Headlights
CF interior trim and Full Leather.

To say I am impressed would be the understatement of the year for me. I am sad that I almost limited myself to not purchasing it based only on initial internet pictures.

It's a Metallica sort of blue in that it 'fades to black'.

I wasn't sure what I was actually getting but I like it a lot. It is a lot of work (detailing) though, I hate seeing dust and whatnot on the hood when I'm driving so I could literally clean it every day.

I owned a TB F80 and parked it next to a TBII G20 once. I couldn't tell a difference. I now own a TBII G20 M340 and I think the paint looks the same as my old car. My understanding is that TB was changed to TB II because of a new paint supplier, but the color wasn't changed.

Good to know! I think it's just the shape of the car mixed with black trim that gives it the illusion. Add some slightly darker wheels, and larger grills in the front as well.
