Agreed. I always had euro MDM coded in. To be able to adjust it manually will be fun (but also daunting to find the right setting for the conditions).

What I don't understand is what will I miss if I don't order the M Drive Professional?
This is from the U.S. press release: Selecting the optional M Drive Professional brings the new M Traction Control function. Making its debut in the new BMW M3 and M4, this new traction control allows the driver to set the intervention thresholds for wheel slip. The iDrive menu for this system displays ten stages of defined permitted wheel slip. The new traction control option gives the driver the ability to select the ideal balance of racing-car performance and directional stability for the situation, the road conditions and their personal preferences. This allows them to approach the limits on the track by reducing the extent of control system inputs in stages. Based on the above I understand I will not get the 10 stage traction feature, and based on this video I will not get the three pre-programmed M Modes (road, sport, track). I'm getting the M xDrive so not sure if M Drive Professional is really that important as long as I get the option to switch to full RWD mode and I expect MDM will be programmed in a way that allows enough traction control intervention for street use... Any thoughts?

I judge anyone who doesn't drive 6MT harshly. There's something VERY wrong with me lol.

Ayyy... I can finally have the car start up with everything in comfort? One thing that bugs me currently is having to waste one of the M buttons to change suspension and steering from sport each time I start the car, and settings don't save.

Those were my thoughts as well as well, though, so I figured I didn't need it. In my F92, MDM is good enough for me 99% of the time, I'd assume the same would be true with the G8x with M-xDrive. Perhaps I might be picky enough to prefer to be in stage 6 rather than MDM (which they may classify as stage 5 or something), so sure, I might tweak it, but I'd basically save it to my M2 button and forgot it and likely not be able to distinguish between my preferred setting and MDM anyway... as I simply like MDM the way it is. If I was messing around between 0 and 10 for fun, I might as well be in RWD/ full DSC off. As for the "M modes", they're really just HUD/gauge cluster settings. I like using the sport mode in my M8 on occasion, it's sort of odd I can't save it to to the M1/2 button and that seems to be the case here as well. I have a base so I don't have the "track" setting, but I'm pretty sure that's just equivalent of sport while switching off the infotainment screen. EDIT: per @xlover I forgot these modes also reduce then remove the some driver assistance features as well, I have them reduced to begin with, but I believe the main noticeable difference is that "road" mode will have lane keeping assistant on along with all the other niceties, "sport" will have lane departure warning on, some emergency braking functions, etc., then track would turn that all off.

I'm glad they're expanding the intelligent traction/stability control systems. They are nice to have at the track.
It is incredibly likely I will still track with all of them disabled, but I'm still happy they're there |

So in the G8x the only way to have RWD with a form of DSC partially off (either via MDM or M Drive professional traction stages) will be to get the 6MT base M3/M4.

Seems like getting a new iPhone. It used to be exciting, but now you just dread the days it will take to get it working like the old iPhone.

Not only that, just to get the HUD to the correct format. Between this, the rev matching being adjustable, it demonstrates they did listen to the feedback they got from us.

The biggest factor for amateur drivers and lap times isn't minuscule suspension adjustments, it's seat time and skill development. A great driver in a poor car will outperform a poor driver in a great car, within reason. |

They need to load up your settings automatically when you log into the new car. Sounds crazy but it's probably not that far away.

There should be an idiot mode button, I see some many people drive m's in comfort mode that I get shivers.
One of my friends had m4 vert and to last 6 months of the lease kept saying response sucks. I pressed throttle response button to sport plus and he started to cry...

There's nothing wrong with wanting a car with a proper transmission. Think of yourself as enlightened now.
