It seems like a fun drive for sure. Curious if they meant to slide in every corner or the car is just uncontrollable LOL.

They have to be testing overall stability and needed reaction in a slide. A few of them put it into a slide.

They could also be fine tuning the MDM (i.e. slip angle etc).

These are definitely intentional slides for testing purposes. Looks like me when I try to drift(usually unsuccessfully) at the track.

Say what you want about the styling. (I definitely will.)
But really - the driving dynamics are more important.

Very probable since the car is supposed to have a 10 stage selectable traction control/esp with the M Drive Pro option.

First thought was "MDM testing"? Though it looks like rear suspension is probably too soft? The green M3 bounced quite a bit. Adding to "the looks..." bucket, I think the M4 looks pretty bad vs the M3.

Well, the positive takeaway from the video is that the induction side of the engine sounds good. The exhaust, not so much. The 'styling' is still ****

I'd guess the same, more likely the latter would be my one vote though. IMO they've had plenty of time to fine tune MDM and similar systems, so the M Drift Analyzer is more likely what they're honing right now.

Rotors were glowing from heat. Means that guy was REALLY hammering it.

I'm sure you know this to an extent, but the Nurburgring Nordschleife is not exactly a smooth track. There are bumps and undulations all over. Who knows though, they could also be testing adaptive damping settings, different spring/damper setups, etc.

Same sentiments here. Looks like the driving dynamics are still on-point, as expected from the M3 name.
