Not sure about the OP but when my brother worked for Jaguar Landrover corporate regional office in Dubai he used to drive all kinds of new cars before release. One was a pre-production test mule with equipment in the passenger footwell & trunk.

I'm hoping this black G80 is being broken in to be given to the press for reviews!

It'll be nice if the OP provides some background (if allowed).

Those seats look awesome. A plain black with a yellow or blue stitching would be perfect. The rest of the car, nawww.

Thought the competition wasn't being manufactured until summer?

Hopefully it's a soon to be press car.

The AWD and G83 are not factored before summer (July 2021). The competition and non-competition with RWD are already in production

thanks for the photos & you're about to be a very popular person haha!

Hope you enjoy the time behind the wheel! I'm still curious how different it'll feel compared to the F80s that I tried to love but dumped promptly after tasting a manual V8 tied to a very nice chassis.

hoping this is a nice leap in the feel categories

OP, can you please clarify what you mean that the S58 makes up for the heavier weight? Did the car seem quite a bit heavier in a straight line? On turns? Thank you

For some of us this is the key question. How does it carry the added weight? Not if it accelerates harder, we all know it will but how it impact turn in, agility and balance. If you are more of a casual driver than a hard core driving enthusiast, does it feel heavier and slower to react when changing directions when pushing it?

Btw, huge thanks for posting here, we are starved for any information you provide, the more the better. You are in position to scoop people like Chris Harris, Tiff Needell and the likes, take it...

I share Solstice's concern about the effect of added weight. This uneasy feeling is compounded by the lack of driving reviews so close to introduction. I bought an early E90 M3 in March 2008 and recall seeing reviews 8 or 9 months prior to that. Now we're 2 or 3 months before launch and - crickets. M cars should be great track performers right out of the box. I hope the G90 doesn't disappoint in this regard.

Is them really so? 8 - 9 months prior release you had some E9x reviews?

Still, I am not too concerned and believe BMW M will deliver the best M3/M4 performance car yet and better car compared to Mercedes-Benz (AMG) and Audi (S-Models). What I do believe is C19 had some impact on the go to market / pre-presentation / pre-marketing / pre-testing timeline and BMW may was a little behind in his finishing touches and therefore we have the current situation...

Not that it makes anything better, but all of the manufacturers will have to some degree the added weight the new G8x generation has. May we see an increase in special models such as CS models and others with lower weight, etc... Kind of unfair with expected significant higher pricing but may more profit for BMW M...

With that being said, the S58 is more than capable of handling it. I think the engine will not disappoint. There are hardly any "twisties" in this area. So I will need to find some corners. The CF seats are comfortable for my 35 minute commute. Ingress/egress requires a little practice.
How are the bucket seats? I'm 5'9 and I got the upgraded seats but I'm concerned I'll feel very small in them. Especially the carbon between the legs.

Yup. I double checked. There was a Car and Driver preview in July 2007, although it might be that the US intro was later than the European launch and the car was close to launch elsewhere. I don't remember for sure, but I do recall reviews easing my reluctance to order an early car. This time, I think I'll wait.
