Got an email from my local dealer saying they will have the HEA cars next month as they are in transit right now. So at least we'll be able to see the cars and judge them in person soon enough.

For real. This is what an M car should be about.

They like to downplay this as it's happened before and people got over it.
But they fail to realize the context and magnitude of prior complaints compare to this current one.

No time in BMW M history has the change in core style AND philosophy been this severe and unwanted.

Judging by who they're marketing this to, sales figures will only paint a small picture of what they've done.

We live in a world where prospective M buyers seem to be mostly interested in aesthetics.

They wouldn't want someone to think their car is ugly at the Cars and Coffee where they're flexing their fixed back seats, PSC2 tires on BBS FI wheels and decals alluding to 'track toy', tow hooks and other stupidities.

I hope these people move to Porsche, that is the natural habitat of hard parkers and 'look at the color of my seatbelts' people

In 2014, this video is what made me stop debating the purchase of my M4 and pull the trigger. There were so many engineering changes to the car like the rigid subframes and the carbon fiber drive shaft that nobody would ever see, but made the car what it was, a true M car.

Now we get hokey videos of M town, hipsters, and “it is fast.”

It is not my M anymore.

Well just a guess but when last M3 was 3.9-4.0 0-60
and new X3M does 3.3

guessing this will be right about 3.0 and shaving 25% off 0-60 time for any 2020s car, that's amazing.
and the fact that the entry price will be in the low $70K range for a 0-60 3 second car is also amazing! numbers will probably be on par with the new corvette for similar prices when fully optioned, except M3 is 10X more practical. A small nose job and its a beautiful car.
