G80 M3 reveals more of kidney grilles in Spain
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com https://jalopnik.com/these-mules-cou...-m5-1837669472 via https://www.motor.es/noticias/bmw-m3...201960252.html Reader Jan glimpsed two camouflaged BMW test mules driving in the Sierra Nevada mountains in Spain, near Granada, not long ago. He said he guessed the cars were an M5 and M3, and that “the guys [driving] said yes,” but he’s not sure if there were kidding or not... The supposed M3 has this cool thing going on where its kidney grilles extend past the bumper panel that’s meant to hold a license plate. |

It does look to be separate grills - the 2 kidneys and a matching lower (you can see the outline of the seperation in the upper kidneys and bumper)

Not really "matching" though... there are a different number (and spacing) of vertical bars in the lower section than the upper. This is going to look more like cross between a buck-toothed beaver and a whale filtering plankton ;-)

It's an older prototype. So it carries the generic G20 front fascia but the lower aerodynamic portions seem to be from the M3/M4.
You have to admit this is genius trolling on behalf of BMW M. They remove the lower portion to tease especially when we are at the period where the front camouflage has to be removed especially for heat and altitude testing.

I might be mistaken but those grilles look almost 'normal' to me. Maybe BMW hasn't destroyed the new M3/M4 front end design after all?

Hope they're trolling us.....
But I rest such scared about what it could happen. I've got a friend in BMW in Munich...and he told me that...yes....both M3/4 and 4 series will have an oversized kidney grille.....so...i'm scared..... |

To me what we are seeing here is the lower air channels that will sit under the bumper cover to ensure air is properly diverted to the cooling systems... gives us an idea of where the hard points and grills are going to be...
Upper section shows this is the mutant mule using the g20 front end You can see the huge wheel wells where they just cut bigger openings to allow for what will be a wider fender set up |

They do this on purpose to f*ck with us forum people lol... no way that is anything close to production
I'm more concerned with the front fender to wheel gap, rear looks about right. |
