Need help finding this shift knob
Saw this in a facebook group, the guy who posted it isn't answering and i'm dying to find this shift knob for the E9x, it's a lot shorter than the stock one, and since i don't have paddle shifters, i use the manual mode in mine quite a lot after the xHP transmission flash, and i was wondering if anyone knows where to find this knob. The suede on this is a wrap, i think it's silver when you buy it. Cheers!

Doesn't look like it, the performance knob has the suede wrap around the front, i know he wrapped the trim in the middle himself but he'd have to remove the thing on the front, this is the performance one. You think he shortened it himself? I'd love to get this knob but i don't want to do a hack job DIY to my current one.

Never mind on the shortened stalk, looked like it in the first photo but compared to the other pic it looks stock, I think it's the smaller shifter "knob" that makes it look that way. But yeah you're right, it's not the Performance knob, I though it was because I saw the alcantara, but I'm not sure what knob that is. |

i love how this looks, it almost looks like a gtr shift knob, after further inspection of mine it really looks like he cut his somehow and tucked the leather in at the bottom

It legitimately looks like an OEM shift knob that he somehow cut 3/4" off of... With shortened shifter stalk...
Someone prove me wrong. And I'll go right out and buy one. Cause aside from the Alcantara. It looks HOT. |

the guy finally replied to my facebook post, he just cut the bottom part and removed the plastic stalk inside. I bought an extra shift knob to try this out, it looks like it would be comfy for manual shifting, i like low shifters. Without the plastic stalk though, the button wouldn't work, so in theory you could probably accidentally "bump" it into reverse or something? I'm gonna try it out and see how it works, that might not be an issue, a lot of automatic cars don't even have these buttons. If it sucks then i'll still have my original shifter and can just put that back in.

In theory, you could also cut/section the stalk the same amount that you cut the knob. Use epoxy to glue it back together. I did something similar to the windshield wiper and turn signal stalks on a MkI GTI track/autocross car because I kept hitting them.

I didn't feel like trying to shorten the little rod on the inside so the button doesn't work
