Need clarification (How does the Ipod integration work?)

Hey guys,

I was wondering if someone could explain to me how the Ipod integration system works in our cars. I just don't understand how a bovee 3000b can recognize if its hooked up to an Iphone or Android. When hooking up the Bovee to the USB and AUX then connecting your phone through Bluetooth how does the system recognize what phone your using? I ask this because as most of us know if you have an Iphone and run it with the Bovee you will have full functionality of skipping tracks from your steering wheel and track description on the HU.

I do not have Idrive but I have 6FL (USB/AUX) and I believe I have the MULF 2 unit?

VIN: A515947

I've always had Androids so making the leap to Iphone is pretty hard to do lol.

I really appreciate any information.

there is three options for ipod integration
1 old, based on alpine ipod most module, have old ipod connector
2 based on mulf2high, uses Y-cable with old ipod connector
3 based on combox, uses USB to work with newer apple devices or also Y cable with old apple devices
also it is possible to connect apple devices using dension gateway
there is not problem for usb host device identify device using usb id
bovee emulates iphone ids i think
also there is special usb cable grom wirelinq which is simplifes android phones connection via usb

Thanks for clarifying that for me, so in theory my TCU 1.5 has apple software built in that recognizes the apple device plugged in? I'm sorry if that assumption is totally off.

It would be nice if the grom wireling cable had built in Bluetooth! then we'd be in business lol

Really? So even if I got the bovee unit and had an iPhone it wouldn't work?
