Title should say for wife!!!

Need to get the wife something new as the e class goes back in march plus keeps her sweet when it's M3 time for me

Had a Honda CR-V on demo for the last 4 days not a bad car really, perfect for the size, throwing pushcair in boot, 3 kids in back easy but full of cheap plastic inside, creaking and rattling already with only 1,200 miles on clock so that's a no go

Had a Nissan qasquai (or however its spelt) for the day today a better drive than the Honda but same plastic feel inside

She's had a x5 before it was too big (her words)

Had a golf gtd and a a3 sportback so she wants something different

So We took a trip to mini and looked at the clubman cooper D, cracking little car, quality build inside
Chilli pack so heated seats, jcw steering wheel, comfort access, reverse sensors, leather, nav, interior lighting pack
2.0d 190bhp engine went well for what I could tell in the short test drive tried to push for a couple of days loan but the salesman wasn't having it

So now the wife wants one of these the styling is a bit quirky but i quite liked it

Has anyone owned one? Just wondered what you thought to it long term

Can get one on for £ 1800 deposit then 23 at £201/MTH
10,000 miles per annum

A close friend has picked up a new Golf Gti today, he really likes it and it was only £199 a month.

Now he likes cars and his daily is a 991 GTS, as well as a new Cayenne and a Twisted Defender so I think it's high praise for the Golf.

I'm going to have a go in it on Friday, but I think for the money the Gti is cracking value good deals available on the out going model, he said it seems to have everything as standard that cost him 20k to spec on the 911.

Can't go wrong at that, do seem to be some competitive deals on the Golf GTi at the moment and that one sounds especially keen (unless of course he put in a huge deposit to get the monthlies down!).

Mate of mine got in on one of the good deals for a Golf R a couple of years ago, not much over £200/month including VAT and from memory only about 6 months deposit. Again a cracking car and the total cost over the 2 years is almost certainly less than the depreciation even if he'd bought with a decent discount.

What about a Mazda CX5 or CX3 (probably too small). They're cracking cars with nice interiors IMO.

Haven't looked at the cx5 actually cheers pal

We looked at a Infiniti qx30 which was well kitted out but no small in the back

I'm genuinely staggered at the value the CX3 provides. It's a lovely little car with a really nice interior and if you get the sport nav, it includes things like HUD as standard, all available for £19K. The CX5 will be different, but the quality and value is just as good.

We were looking at medium sized SUV's last year, settled on Volvo XC60 R Design. There were big discounts on them and got a pretty good deal. Feels premium compared to Nissan, Mazda etc.

We picked up a Cooper D 5 dr hatch for the other half last week. It's the 1.5 3 cylinder also found in the 1,2,3 Series and it is a surprisingly good car. The handling is fantastic, although the ride was a little harsh for the 300 mile drive back from the dealer. Fine on shorter trips it will get used for though.

The hatch comes with no kit at all, so you do need quite a few options, but I think the Clubman has better standard kit.

The build quality is at least 1 Series BMW standard, perhaps a little higher. My OH doesn't like the BMW image, so the current Mini is a good way to get a car I want to drive too. Most of the similar size alternatives are not great.

It is odd that they made the (identical) iDrive knob work in the opposite direction to my car. Still catches me out every time.

Some excellent lease deals on the Volvo XC60 just now as it's EOL.

Also saw a Seat Alteca - £2k deposit and £60 per month (all plus VAT), it was the 1.0 SE model though.

https://www.centralukvehicleleasing....ive_s_5dr.html

Skoda Kodiaq may also be of use as well as the Tiguan

Check out Pistonheads, there's a huge lease thread on there

Just bought the wife a JCW. The F platform is like night and day of the older R platform. The Clubman auto even gets the BMW 8 speed gearbox. Interior is another level also.

Tiguan? Several models available on cheap leases through CVL:

https://www.centralukvehicleleasing....e_nav_5dr.html

£2.4k deposit and £162 per month including VAT. 5k miles pa, but VW FS extra miles are usually cheap (7p per mile iirc).

We are on 2nd Qashqai, whilst cheaper than some other brands they have both been epic in value for money terms, not missed a beat and services are cheap! Been perfect for sticking the kids in and pushchair etc
We will upgrade this year, I really like the new Tiguan, but are premium cost.

CX5 and XC60 are great quality and are older models so decent offers. The CX5 would be a great deal at circa 200quid if you could find one.

Mrs wants a mini clubman (doors at the back) as she's had minis in past. It's a girl thing, go with that and make her happy!

i have 2

JCW Coupe 231 BHP
Clubman COOPER S Fully Loaded with JCW kit etc

I'm due to Trade in the JCW this week for the 440i but in the 12months ive owned it its been fun, Impractical though too small

The Clubman is just about right as big as a golf and practical, the newer JCW is the 1 to get if you go petrol, the difference between the 191 cooper S and my 231 JCW is night and day, the JCW is angry the Cooper S needs winding up...

Overall there ok, but as soon as I'm outa negative equity, which is a long time as the Extras you add bump up the price and resale isn't as strong as JCW, i,ll try get her in a BMW X3 or something...

nice cars though myspec was

Cooper S
Full Lounge leather
HUD
Harmon Kardon
Full Chilli pack
Full JCW Pack
19inch JCW Wheels
Bonnet stripes
Pano roof
heated seats etc
Navs standard in the clubman...

Good luck, if its what she wants get 1, just remember the Diesal issue with DPFs and EGR valves and if she potters around get petrol....

Do you have children mate? We have a little 2yr old and one due in March just wondered what it was like in the back with two car seats in

The one we have been offered is the cooper d with chilli pack
It's a straight 2 yr lease with 10k a year £1800 deposit for £205/mth
To go cooper s petrol it jumped to around £270 so she will be happy with the D

Hopefully we might got get the dpf issues with such low mileage
