Tyre advice

Aiming to sell or P/Ex my F31 330D on delivery of 340(hopefully!) in March. Just been to Kwikfit for a check on the tyres which are the original 19in Bridgestones with 32k miles on them. The fronts have 4-5mm on them but the rears 3-4mm.
The dealer said they wouldn't take it with tyres at less than 4mm but I'd guess they'd get a better deal on new ones than me. So should I bite the bullet and buy a set of four or just the rears or get a price reduction on its P/Ex value from the dealer? Thanks

I'd be looking on here or eBay for a set of used tyres of a type supplied by BMW from new. That have just enough.
It'll be because your car will go back out as AUC , which means a minimum tyre depth, and so they'd have to put a new set on. If it was going straight out to trad then they wouldn't care.

I might have a pair of rears available soon which should be 4mm, I'll confirm later but if you're interested I might be able to help

I'm impressed by the mileage you've managed from them! Is it common to get this many miles from the Bridgestones?

Bridgestones are hard wearing but thats probably why the ride is sh*t on them. Got them on my car and cant wait to get of them. Still 6mm after about 8k miles!

Yeah, you're right. My 320d has done about 11.5k & there's negligible wear on the tyres. Suits me as I want it to be economical to run.

my rears were shot at 18.5k and the fronts had 5mm.

As above I would be tempted to hang out for a used set on here rather than buy new tyres

The dealer won't take the car without 4 mm on the tyres.
I would tell them to wind their neck in, do they want the deal or not.
PX my 320d x drive with approx 2-3 mm on front and rear no questioned asked at a BMW dealer.
How good is the deal for the 340? I doubt the dealers margin is that tight that they cannot factor in some new tyres if required, particularly at the cost to buy for them.
Sorry to come over as harsh but dealers do take the piss massive if you are not robust enough with them.

Thanks all for your help. Getting a good deal at Marshalls in Grimbsy who have offered me same price P/Ex as Vines in Gatwick(£17.5k). I'll get a price from a local (South London) general, second hand dealer who I've sold three cars to before all at decent margins above BMW dealers' P/Ex offers. Sounds though they may be less concerned with tyre wear than authorised dealer.
Daftasabrush- very kind,I'll do as above and maybe get back to you. Unless you're very local not sure it's worth the time/price of swapping to gain another 0.5/1mm but let's see.
Kwikfit guy said Bridgestones are very hard wearing but I must have a very light right foot;will do my best to cure that when the 340 turns up!

I had the same when trading in the 116 for the 135 - dealer knocked £600 off for tyres all round so I bought the cheapest Bridgestones I could for £280 the set.

The irony is they didn't have to be * marked or even run flat, just enough tread!

Agree with @Mr Burt. The tyres are at a legal level so why pay for someone else's motoring (or profits)? If the dealer is that insistent and the deal is so good you can't pass it up, I'd get the cheapest 5hitest mis matched pair of rear part worns I could find and fit them.
