So when my car is in reverse the foglights come on. When you put it in drive only the driver side comes on. Manually pushing the foglight button turns them both on. This has me scratching my head.

I'm not 100% sure about this but I believe this is normal procedure for BMW's.
When you turn the steering wheel the fog light goes when making a turn , and also when you put it in reverse the fog lights come on.
I had mine coded out.
Check your manual.

if your fog lights are off, they will light turn on depending on which direction you are turning in.

I do have adaptive headlights so maybe when i turn the wheel the foglight on that side comes on. Im usually in the car so i dont see this. I just happen to be outside when my wife drove the car off to town.

Try this:

FEM_BODY => C_CLC_ENA = F20enable <=this is default value for F36 yours might be different.

i read your post wrong. I haven't found a way to keep fogs on but you can turn it off while turning.

You turn them on. Hahaha!

I am not sure what the confusion is. With the light switch in auto/adaptive the adaptive is on and the fog lamps on off behave as cornering lamps and will come on reverse for more visibility. Can turn the adaptive off by simply just moving the switch all the way to the right.

If they're off, the one will go on according to your signal light direction. I've never noticed it for reversing. When they're on... they wont go according to signal lights.

Backing out of the drive way theywere on. When she put it in drive and starting turning left that fog light only came on. I could not see if it went off after she straightened up.
