Replacing Headlight Lenses?

Hello Guys,

I have a 2007 E90 and the lenses are scratched up pretty bad after all this time. The lights still work fine and I have wanted nothing more than to get the DTM halos but refuse to shell out the money to modify aging lenses. With new headlights costing upwards of $1,000 dollars I was wondering if it was viable to purchases lenses such as these

and have the company altering the headlights swap out the lenses when they put in the DTM rings. Is this viable? I have little to no insight on the process or how that would work.

Yes, the company modding your headlights will have to bake your lights to release the lens sealant and remove the lens to do the upgrade anyway

Then they would normally reseal the lenses, perfect time to replace the lenses with new ones

Question you have to ask the company doing the work is it they will guarantee the headlights will not leak as they would with the oem lenses if they install aftermarket lenses

Thank you for the insight. That would definitely be cost efficient compared to a new housing. Ill have to research the quality of these aftermarket lenses and get in contact with the headlight companies.

I'm pretty sure Hella makes the lenses for factory BMW headlights. Hella has been around for a long time though and I wouldn't worry about the quality of those lenses.

Get a set of regular halogen headlights for the low and use the lenses from those.

I actually used the 3M headlight restoration kit where you sand down the headlights. It came out looking 1,000x better.

Lenses have uv protection layer. I sanded mine down to clean up all the scratches and rockchips, machine polished and applied Xpel ppf which is uv resistant and also prevents rock chips.
