Average price for painting parts?

Hey everyone I just had a quick question on what you would expect to pay to have side skirts and a trunk lid painted? I just got in M3 skirts and a CSL lid and was quoted $980.00 for all of it painted. I thought this seemed steep, what are your thoughts?

I'm sure it depends on the body shop or what you may have asked for. A list of what was quoted broken down would be nice. I can tell you off the top of my head for the items listed and size , it would be no more than $100 in products since they would be using about 1/4 of what the smallest purchased amounts are. Most places already have primer and clear coat , and only need the specific color. Your job would probably use 1/2 of a pint of paint when reduced . I can say too that the labor portion of it could be about 1.5 hrs spray primer , 1.5 hr spray with base color, 1.5 hour spray clear @ $60 an hour is $270.
Then there is probably a padded profit for the shop itself an or room for rework if necessary.

Forgot to ask if you requested they wet sand and buff the final product to a mirror finish . I would add in 3 hrs and maybe $50 in polish product .

Here is the estimate, keep in mind it's a CF lid so I'm not sure it that should add much to the price for prepping and taping off sections. I also told them I'd be mounting the parts myself so that's not included. If this is reasonable I'll pay it, since the last place didn't match my color perfectly, but I don't want to get bullied.

Thanks for the response! Quick question since you clearly play paintball, what leagues do you play in if any? I used to play semi-pro NPPL for a team called infamy, wasn't sure if I've ever run into you.

Haha! Yeah, I played D2 in the NPPL for awhile then we switched to the PSP, team is called FUSE. I'm about 95% sure we've played you guys. Maybe at the GPL?

pretty surd this quote is to blend the color in to the doors and quarter panels. This means preppi g doors 1/4 new rockers and trunk lid. The rate looks pretty low if its a reputable shop and your sure of their quality its a good price And you wont have any color match issues.

No two paints spray the same so if you just paint the rockers and trunk you run a chance of having mismatched finishes.
