Hello all, traded in my X3 for the 435ix, and wanted to see if my vossen wheels will fit. The fronts are 20x9 +35 with rears 20x10.5 +42. The car is xDrive so my tire options are either 235/265 or 245/285. I would prefer to go with the latter as I am not a fan of stretched tire look... Luv vossens, but just dont want to go through the hassle of selling and buying agian.

P.S. Not looking to drop as my car came with adaptive suspension. But open to camber adjustments if necessary.

First of all congrats!

The fronts will extend out 14mm. On my 428i, not lowered yet, 10mm is perfectly flush so 14mm will be a bit aggressive depending on your taste.

The rears will extend out 30mm! Most folks add a 15mm spacer to the rear so this could definitely be a problem for you depending on the look you are after.

By the way, stock wheel on 4 series are
8" front et 36
8.5" rears et 47

Tboooe not sure how you are measuring that. Those are the recommended offsets by Vossen for the 4 series which are the same for the 3 series. I have the CV3s and with the same wheel specs. Running 245/35 front with 275/30 rear.

Your car is significantly lowered though and the OP said he doesnt want to do that. Also I mentioned the look "could" be too aggressive depending on what kind of look the OP is going for.

Thanks tboooe. Yes I had the wheels on for about a week before lowering it but the wheels did not stick out that far as the calculator you are using says. The rear was a little but not 30mm and didn't rub then. I went to Element Wheels' website and used their wheel selector and it recommends the same spec for the 4 as the 3 series. The 42 is aggressive but should be no problem since he is not lowering. Can check with Vossen as well.

Good to know. BTW, note that the calculator I use says the wheel will stick 30mm from stock but most 4 owners use a 15mm spacer on their stock wheels so the net effect is the wheel will be pushed out 15mm more. Depending on the drop, the sidewall profile of the tire, the amount of stretch this could be a problem. I guess the best way to know is to just test fit the wheels.

We can doublecheck the offset calculator by just doing the math in our heads.

So the new rear wheel is 2" (50mm) wider than the stock wheel. If we assume the offset stays the same, this would mean the new wheel would extend 25mm more on the outside and inside. Add in the fact the the new wheel is 5mm less offset (pushing the wheel out more), the total the new wheel would extend more than the stock wheel is 25mm + 5mm = 30mm.

I am not saying the OP cant use this wheel. It just depends on what look he wants. I am very conservative and do not like any sort of poke so I am fine with the wheel being not 100% flush. I actually prefer the wheel to be 2-3mm recessed into the wheel well.

Called vossen and they recommend either 10 +40 or 10.5 +45.. They said +42 May rub. Is ur set up +42 or +45?

Well its a long story. LOL... When I first got these 2 years ago Vossen said 42ET was the right rear offset for the F30. I was at the same height as you see in the picture with H&R coil overs and I did not rub at all. I swapped out my H&R coil over for KW coil overs and I was rubbing with the same height because the KW spring rates are softer. I had the rear hubs shaved to change the offset to 44.5 (Vossen said I could shave up to 3mm but to be safe I shaved 2.5mm). The best offset for 10.5" rear is a 45. On the older wheels Vossen is not making a 45 et that I am aware of. I noticed on the newer wheels they are though.

So it all depends on what suspension you go with. H&R you should not rub even with the springs with a 42et, but I would have them shaved to 45et preferably by Vossen if they offer the service. If not find a local machine shop that does work for race cars. They are more than capable to do this. Cost me 50 bucks per wheel.

For running a 285, I am wondering that too. I've seen one guy run 295. I saw Betlion's car and he has 285/25 but the tire profile scares me. Looks incredibly thin. As you will see in his post I asked him to take closer pics. The 275/30 is barely stretched. Not too bad and it does offer good sidewall protection. Link to his tread below.
