Anyone here have catted downpipes? intakes?

So I have a BMS Stage 1 and an AA exhaust, I am very happy with this combination and the car has plenty of power/torque. But the need for more is always there, so I'm trying to plan my mods and it looks a down pipe is the next logical mod. At the same time, I don't want to be pushing a CEL, having my dealer angry, and living with the smells from a catless. Looking

Another option is an intake, but I've heard that the aftermarket options don't really increase any power as the stock is fairly unrestrictive, just make more noise (which isn't really what i'm going for). Is there anyone who has experience?

I am also consider about high flow catted downpipe, catless is cheaper but I don't want my car be super loud. I am now running with supersprint quad with non-resonate center.

I had the Injen. It is true that they do not add any HP, just noise. Definitely a nice intake and it looked better than all the plastic under the hood.

I have the Wagner Catted DP on my N20 and everything has been good so far. It's definitely made my setup louder and butt dyno says it gave me a lil bump in power.

An intake, AFE or Injen, will have more performance gain than your AA exhaust, for sure. I had the AA and thought the drone was horrible in comfort and eco mode going up hills. I had Injen but took it off due to it being so loud and annoying. But it def gave noticeable torque around 4k rpm. I want dp too, but like you, dont want the smell living in downtown Seattle.

Why dont you get BMS stage 2/JB4. I have JB4 map 2 on 92oct, afe intake, mpe. Jon from BMS said my logs show everything running peachy.

I think the solution for me to get a more powerful car. Test drove a 911 S last week. Twas insanE.

OP since you have JB4 you won't get a CEL light. Also the smell is overrated in my opinion.
ER DP (catted or catless) is a very good option for you at this point

Catless DP with stock exhaust will not make the car super loud

I'm happy with the exhaust - don't notice significant drone or maybe I'm just impervious to it given this is my first exhaust. Definitely a significant power/torque gain especially, can feel it in my butt dyno. I would easily say 10 hp and at least 15-20 ft-lbs of torque. Really creates a smoother and flatter torque curve.

Anyways, I agree that my next car will be more powerful, but I still got 2 years to go

Don't have a JB4, Have a BMS Stage 1, will it still throw a CEL, Mike?

I'm looking at the ER DP.

I'm not 100% on this but I'm pretty sure Stage 1 will still give you a CEL as it does not have the CAN access like the JB4, therefore it does not read/delete engine codes/faults.

There are options available now though such as a lamda sensor spacer which goes into the post cat position which basically acts as a mini catalyst. The difference in reading between pre cat and post cat should then not throw a CEL. Although I am still waiting for people who have used this to confirm as I would like to install my 4inch catless from aFe soon, but also do not want to be driving around with an engine light on all the time.

Just bought an ER catted DP today. I was just quoted 250 to get it installed. I'll report back after install. For a grand all in, it better give me sound and power!

Please let us know...should be awesome.
I want to pull the trigger tomorrow, and i'm leaning towards catless, my car doesn't need to be inspected for 3 years and my lease will be up by then.

I am on the gruppem intake on the 328i.

I could felt a loss in low end torque which is pretty significant.

On the dyno, I was supposed to get around 5 - 10 bhp increase over the few pulls before and after... But I would take this with a pinch of salt as the after run was conducted at night and even within the same config, the bhp could vary +/- 3 to 5 bhp easily.

No experience with a catted DP. But with a catless dp, the power increase at high end is very significant.

Any updates on your catted and catless downpipes?
How bad is the smell ? I have a OBDLInk LX that I connect Bluetooth via my spare Android phone and I monitor temps and datalog when I want and also has option to clear codes / read etc.

I bought a brand new ER catless DP, but decided against installing it - in fact it is up for sale right now.

We've had a couple of customers go back to catted after a few months. I have to admit I converted back to a mid-pipe cat on my 135i after a couple of years of catless. The stench and noise were just a little too boy-racer for me. To each their own, but I'm happy I switched back.

How come? Too bad your DP won't fit my car only the F10/F25/E84 share the same size.

Mainly cause I couldn't find any reputable shop that was willing to put it on. 2nd, I decided that i'm satisfied with the power and sound for now, and the CEL, removing it for service would wear on me in the long run.

I still have it, and I still kind of want to put it on, but I'm hoping somebody picks it up.

Where do you live?
If it's a lease yes just sell them, if not and you planning to keep it I'd say why not, you will like the extra power too.
You could possibly find a shop on Dynojet site that has a Dyno and willing to install it for you, do a baseline run and after mods.

intakes don't really do much other than noise. There are some catted downpipes that still throw a CEL. I have the ER catless downpipe and I feel a huge power difference. If you don't want a CEL you can always upgrade to the jb4. I have the remus powerizer, which I am surprised isn't really talked about on the forums because I feel the most power out of this piggyback compared to the AFE and bms stage 1. I just get my oil changes from a reputable shop so I dont have to bring my car to the dealer

Man!!! we have to meet up lol.
Remus powerizer is a new kid on the block they use the racechip module so I'm sure you have a good piggyback tune. will PM you so I dont threadjack lol

you have cat or catless? you dont need jb4 for CEL, i have obdlink scantool (conects to OBDII port) bluetooth version connects to Android and Wifi version to Iphone. Open up their OBDLINk free app (read/clear codes, monitor, temps, gauges etc) i also use dash command and torque pro
