135 is EXPENSIVE!

I just built a 135 on bmwusa.com while I was bored, put almost everything on it: sport, premium, cold, idrive, sound system, ipod... basically all the necessities

And... it came out to 47,000!!!!

I wasn't expecting that at all... an equally equipped 335 would come out to 50,000. I really couldn't believe my eyes.

Basically the ONLY reason someone would buy this is if they A) wanted a car that was a couple hundred pounds lighter than the 3 or B) really thinks it looks better than the 3

I'm honestly surprised BMW would make this car so pricey.

The 135 is small, and something exotic for people wanting something different...

You guys are so lucky... a base model of the 135i costs around $75,000 over here...

It only needs to go on a 1,000lb diet first... i'm sure that won't be too hard.

LOL that is the funniest thing i've ever heard LOL

in all seriousness, 1 series is going to be all over the road that it would become the next BMW 3 series, aka the "me too" car. nothing exotic or different...

To me the 1 will be driven by people who want more of a raw sports car feel. The one should feel smaller and more nimble, which people who track the car will want. Most people too won't load it up to 47,000, but I do agree where I think that is very close to the 3. The one overall is not really less expensive then the 3 series. If you look at the jump between the base of the 3 and 5, that is much bigger. Then again would you want to own a bmw that was say 20 grand?

You have to compare the 135i coupe with the 335i coupe.

The difference will be more on the $7,000 range, equally equipped. That makes sense to me.

47k ??? You must click on every option possible... Mine came out 41k

Base 128i is under 28,600... They clearly focusing and competing on the lower market with this lineup.

Remember, the options' prices are much more for the 135i. Also the logic 7 stereo is std in the 335i. About $875 extra in the 135i.

Ex.
Premium pkg: (135i)$3300 vs (335i) $2550

Sport package is the same at $1100

So about $1625 more for the same 135i with premium pkg and the logic 7.

135i base price: $34,900
335i base price: $40,800(coupe); $38,900 (sedan)

difference of $5900 for the cpe and $4000 for the sedan

Add the $1625 from above and the difference is $4275 (cpe) and $2375 for the sedan.

i hope people do go for the 135 instead of the 335, id rather see less 335's and more 135's on the road... so our 335's will be more exclusive haha

The car can not even be compared to the sedan, they are both built for different purposes. Compared to the coupe is more fair.
