The discussion in this thread is regarding the "M" and "AMG" brands. Let's stay on topic.
But to build on @scoobysaurus point, I agree with him. At least for me, BMW M was a far more desirable brand 10-15 years ago. Now, that is no longer the case. I used to eye with envy the E46 and wouldn't even consider looking at a CLK63 back then. Fast forward to today...AMG absolutely kills it with their current offerings. I wouldn't be surprised if Daimler branches AMG into a separate brand altogether pretty soon. Last edited by Dexter Morgan; 09-12-2017 at 09:23 AM.. |

Let's be honest, the looks are dated. That looks like a late 90s early 2000s car.
Still wouldn't kick it out of my garage though. |

If it was black (to compliment the carbon fiber) with HREs P101 minus the graphics and horrible looking shark fin it would stand out just like the new Ford GT. The retractable spoiler once down looks really clean.

Bravo! It may not be beautiful, but the detail in the design is simply stunning. Need some more photos of the inner structure and that roof intake

Highly, highly doubt that there are any fake parts this on this car. Tremendous success and historic moment by Mercedes showing everybody that petrol vehicles are alive and still can kick azz. Just BRAVO BENZ!

From the attached pic in post #7, I don't see where those two pipes are connected to a wastegate; or anything, for that matter. Beautiful car and admittedly, I likey...but for a road car, they really don't need to follow the exhaust constraints imposed on the design of their F1 car. |

They are connected to the main exhaust outlet (different from F1 cars), so functionality is still unknown. But this is from Mercedes official release:
"The exhaust pipe design with a large round outlet and two further small openings is based directly on that of the Formula 1 vehicles." Quote:

The two smaller pipes are connected to the main exhaust pipe. Whether or not they are actually connected to the wastegates, it is hard to tell. They are not necessarily "fake." The Project One uses the power unit from the 2015 W06 F1 car, which under FIA regulations in that year was mandated to have the wastegate pipe integrated into the main exhaust pipe. The integration of the wastegate pipe into the main exhaust pipe had a silencing effect on the exhaust noise from 2015 F1 cars, so this may just be a solution for legality since this is a road-going car after all. |
