Heres my last time on track in December, finally uploaded laptimer footage. I like to use the g-meter to see if my corners are optimal or not (theyre not) by seeing if i hold max lateral Gs all the way through the corner, and not wobble back and forth.

This was first time after the camber plate install..fucked this lap up bad but still faster by 1 second. I think there is easily 2-3 seconds to get by not blowing 3 corner entries and holding a bit more speed through the higher speed sweepers.

For me, I have a set of Carbotech break pads. I haven't gotten to fully test them due to problems with my car when I changed tire size, that another story. I am quite happy with my 4 point roll bar from RSR Studios. I really wanted to run a harness / Haans. Hopefully I will be able to properly test out these break pads soon!
I see this setup and I regret not getting the seats! The OEM+ look for a track car is really something special.

I read about your problems running a smaller overall diameter wheel/tire combo in the rear. Has that been resolved?

I am on the fence here curious what others opinion on studs for tracking are, other than less likely to cross thread a hub (which I did and fixed with a spark plug tap) and ease of swapping wheels.
I just saw this. I recommend the 14x1.25 to 14x1.5 conversion kit. The lug nuts are stronger and you have a lot more choices
I think Im going to just stick with the bolts. I am not confident with two attachment points and all the thermal stress from heat cycles. I dont need that distraction on track.. a set of lug bolts is cheap to replace every year due to thermal cycling and stretching
Run locktite red or similar and actually torque them with the double nut method and you will be fine. However I wouldn't run those street style studs not would I run the titan nuts, as others have said on this forum they are sorta crap. I like the non knurled ones they sell.

If that's still not what you want find a press in or pull in wheel stud from ARP or similar. Drill the hubs and do a permanent conversion.

Several track pad options EBC Rp-1/Bluestuff, and cobalt Racing
New rotors
New Cup2s on 963m frozen.

On the maintenance side, I had an oil service done at 5000miles and flushed my brakes with fresh SRF for the season.
Nice setup. Do you recommend a Differential fluid flush every 10-15k miles if tracking?
Idk, I haven't really considered Diff fluid maintenance intervals…trying to think how long hubs will last.

Not yet resolved but I am convinced the car can not deal with the different size dia for the tires. Still hoping to talk with someone from BMW about this soon.

It has to be within 1%. I've calculated staggered options for X-Drive as a reference for tire selections:

285/35/19 = 26.85in
295/30/20 = 26.97in
Difference = 0.12/26.91 = 0.45%

285/35/19 = 26.85
305/30/20 = 27.20
Difference = 0.35/27.03 = 1.2% - NO GOOD

295/35/19 = 27.13
305/30/20 = 27.20
Difference = 0.07/27.16 = 0.26%

Is this 1% rule written somewhere. I haven't exactly read the manual but just wondering what I say when BMW, inevitably, tells me the same thing.

Also, if your 'good to go' sizes are real that means a lot more tire choices and I can probably salvage at least 2 of my wheels (and tires!).

Also, is it a 1% difference front to back or 1% difference from Stock?

Not meaning even a little to hijack the thread here, sorry about that.

Front to back from my understanding from driving Audi's and Subaru's for years prior.

No worries, that's what the thread is for!

With xDrive, you can have up to a 3% difference from stock sizes (front or rear), but should be less than 1% difference front and rear in any size.

I haven't seen these numbers from BMW officially published anywhere though, but there a are a few examples of people running tires outside these limits and getting vibrations so sounds about right;

Fortunately Girodisc is working on a rotor conversion, which I strongly suggest to serious trackers. You can do Ti shims as well.

For very serious use, the BimmerWorld-Alcon kit is being developed for the G8X already!

I discovered at last weeks Time Attack that the G8X doors are aluminum!!! My magnetic door numbers will no longer work, so I ordered re-usable vinyl. My past experience with reusable vinyl hasn't been great. If there is any peeling whatsoever, dirt gets in there and they are no longer reusable.

The question is, I don't daily my car, but I do like driving occasionally, but I mostly drive it to and from the track or canyon runs etc. How ricey is it to just get a vinyl number and keep it on all the time?

I believe EBC has revealed their floating rotor kit as well... I don't know if you can buy them yet though.

My plates are stuck in some port somewhere. I was expecting it today, but now I have to push my suspension and brake work another week for these plates.

Did you have any luck receiving these?

Did you get "something something delay at port" on your package? Based on my research it was based on the shipper not having transport to cologne to hop on the plane to be imported. Mine were like that until Monday this week, then they came in on Wednesday. I did pay the extra for expedited shipping.

For those of you going with with millways, an interesting thing I have done to drop some costs.

The factory hardware is about 4 bucks a pop and at the factory torque spec must be replaced every time they are removed. With the millways requiring you loosen the bolts mounting the strut to the car every time you adjust camber, every adjustment would be about 32 dollars. However, from many places online you can get M8x40 10.9 bolts for under a dollar a bolt. Will require a hardened washer as well, the factory hardware uses one integral to the bolt and makes the effective length between 38-39mm. Plus, dumping etorx in favor of a 13mm hex is always very appreciated.

I signed up for a track day tomorrow at the last second. I'm still on factory brakes and fluid. I guess there will be lots of cool down laps, but it should be fun to see how a completely stock G8X will hold up!
