Carbon Fiber Exhaust Tips

I am buying the Remus exhaust for my M3 and have been going back and forth between the carbon fiber exhaust tips and the stainless steel tips.

I like the look of the carbon fiber tips but am concerned about longevity. Basically how would they hold up over time. Below are some of the questions I have.

Is heat an issue?

Do I need to clean them often compared to stainless steel? Are they high maintenance?

Any concerns with debris or rocks chipping the coating off the tips? If so, would applying PPF be the way to go?

Carbon tips won't need to be cleaned any sooner than stainless.

Do you plan on getting a carbon diffuser? If so, carbon tips stacked on a carbon diffuser will look a little busy.

No carbon diffuser.

Any concern with coating coming off from rock chips?

If no diffuser, go carbon so you have some contrast. Rocks won't be hitting that portion, not to worry.

I have carbon tips on my Akra and after a year they look like new and don't seem to get dirty at all, unlike the chrome tips on our 4 series. Would u use a special product to clean the steel tips? I can never get our chrome back to all clean and need a solution…

Akra tips should be Titanium, usually a wipe down with a microfiber and WD40 on the titanium portion gets the satin finish black

Get never dull. It works well. It looks Like cotton candy. Use that first to get all the junk off. Then use a chrome polish. They will look new

Had the Remus exhaust with carbon tips on my M2C. I would do the jet black tips if I did it again. The carbon was a matte finish and I after a year or so they looked a little dull. I put a ceramic coating on them and they were back to looking great though.

I had the same tips on my previous car, no problem with the finish. Had them for three years and they looked great. I wonder if the ones you got were defective

Possibly. It wasn't really noticeable unless you got up close but once I coated them they looked fine.
