Finally!

That GT-R had to be tuned, right? It should be launching way harder off the line and running mid to low 11s in the 1/4 mile. This GT-R was catching the M4 with top end power which seems backwards.

It has an aftermarket exhaust so nobody knows if it has something else. I was also expecting it to launch harder and wasn't expecting it to pull away that hard... But what do I know

Why do you say that? Even if he adjusted in the m drive where you can adjust traction 1-10?

When you're rolling it won't matter you have the same rotating mass with or without AWD on

Even with 4wd mode m4 would run very close to gtr however, Thomas is not familiar enough with bmw's. He had an hard time to hold it at gear on roll race. As you cleary see at video, there is a second or two delay on roll race…

Although in this case I don't think it would necessarily make a difference, I wouldn't totally ignore weight distribution. A car with more weight over the rear wheels might do slightly better sending more power to the rear wheels on a rolling start.

Whew! This generation of BMs is ridiculous. Save the higher end 911s of the world and super/hypercars, dollar for dollar they are some of the best bang for your buck in a straight line I've ever seen.

Audi wasn't bad considering old gen engine and a little extra weight.

And bmw doesn't offer the m4gc or wagon in US so Audi still has a niche there.

I had never heard of ABT, was that a joke? Never heard of RS..R either. Seems humiliating for Audi…

The GTR got the hit on the roll, therefore it shows a bigger gap than reality. Still though- it does appear to be faster up top. Which makes sense since it has more HP and an aftermarket exhaust.

The M4 AWD did great. Surprised they didn't focus more on that fact, but whatevs. Would not have helped to be in RWD mode since it goes RWD bias from a roll. At that point the disadvantage compared to RWD M4 lies in the 50kg.

In the 90s and 2000s, you’d get BMW for drifts and fun, Audi for traction, Merc for quality and luxury. Now… BMW for fun, BMW for traction, BMW for quality and luxury. If you don’t get trapped in the nostalgia feel, I think it’s pretty clear that BMW is in a very good place.

I agree. I have a GTR and from the appearances I would say the GTR driver did not have the car in Race Mode or possibly even Launch Control. He acted as not being familiar with the car. Not taking anything from the M4 which is great, but the GTR should have been much closer to the M4 at launch. I am excited that my M4 is currently at the port in Germany.

Delight watching the GTR & M4. I'm not sure why the Volkswagen was ever released, absolute waste of money.

So the BMW fanboy, owner of BMWs almost exclusively, BMW race car driver, is not familiar with BMWs. Who is then? Should we only watch BMW promo videos? One would argue not even BMW is a BMW fan nowadays…
