IND | Indiv G8X M3 / M4 Carbon Air Vent Install Guide

Tools Required:
  • Plastic pry tool
  • Flat-head screwdriver

Constructed of Carbon Fiber Pre-Preg, this carbon air vent begins as a genuine bmw core that is modified with carbon trim to add a bit of flare to your interior and match the other carbon trim found in the G8x M3 / M4 and M Performance models.

Step 1: Begin by using a pry tool to pop the dash side panel away from the vent.

STEP 2: With the side of the vent exposed, pull the air vent outward and down to remove it from the dash.

STEP 3: Remove the Purple and Black connectors from the vent by gently inserting a flat-head screwdriver to release the small tabs.

STEP 4: With the vent free from the vehicle, peel back the felt strip covering the purple connector and unclip it from the housing.

STEP 5: Separate the outer trim console from the vent by releasing the 5 tabs and pull the vent and console apart.

STEP 6: On the new carbon trim console, remove the purple connector from it's holder and snap the vent assembly into the new carbon trim.

STEP 7: Reattach the purple connector to its receptacle and re-cover the data ribbon and connector with the felt strip.

STEP 8: Re-connect the purple and black connectors and insert the vent back into the dash. Complete the install by pressing the side panel back into the dash.

What's all that electronics behind the vent piece?
I thought it was a simple vent with mechanical sliders...

Ambient lighting and a position sensor for air volume wheel.

Ah, okay. Totally forgot about the ambient lights.
Also didn't realize the air volume was controlled electronically.
Thanks for the info!
