Cheap rear brake pads for G80

Guys for anyone that is looking, I just replaced my G82 rear brake pads with these and they work find! Beats paying $400 at the dealer!

Also i noticed that my wife's 2021 X5 40i with sport brakes have the exact same rear brake calipers as my M4 so I assume the X5 rear pads are also a direct fit!

Anyways, I got mine from RockAuto, part number is PAGID 355014361

Oh, and for the electronic parking brake, just disconnect it and run a couple of wires with any 5-12 volt battery to retract the motor... then just use a brake pad spreader or something similar to push the piston back in, don't forget to open your brake fluid container before! The whole procedure took me 30 minutes to replace rear pads on both sides... have fun!

Why the hell does the car already need rear pads? I just gave my commuter to my son, and the pads were at 50% with 97,000 miles on the car. Hopefully I dont have to replace mine, that quick, on the CCBs.

Thanks for this! Super encouraging!

Any chance you can share a picture of the wire setup to reverse the parking brake? Does it work normally when you put it back together or do you have to hit it with the battery again after the new pads are installed?

You can just turn the hex screw inside the piston clockwise until it stops then push the piston back.

Brake will readjust automatically

These pads (made by Pagid) have been around for quite a few years now, used on the TRW single piston floating rear calipers found on the BMW X models and the 5;6;7;and 8 series, and perhaps others. These are indeed the same rear calipers used on the G80/82, and these pads will fit the G80/82. My question is since the other models are all "street Machines", and the G80/82 are engineered and advertised as "track ready", did Pagid/BMW use the same pad compound in both or did they produce a new tougher compound for the G80/82? Only a lab or side by side comparison can answer this. Because of the already abysmal wear rate of the G80/82 pads, I decided months ago not to take a chance on the older pads. For anyone who puts these pads on a track I suggest that you measure the wear closely after each session, and I am not trying to be a smart ass here. Please post your experience with them.

The EBC Bluestuff rears (DP52089NDX) are now being used on the G80/82. Price is around $100. Front pads for these cars (DP52454NDX) are also now available at $336.

I have not used EBC pads previously but I have a set in my garage which I will install in about a month when I use up my remaining sets of BMW OEM rears. It just seems logical and worth a try that they will wear better than the OEM's. In fact, for those who are thinking of replacing their rear pads with the older less expensive OEM pads, why not try the EBC Bluestuff rears instead for about the same price. There is a good chance it is a better and more durable product.

I have had 2.5 track sessions so far at Pacific Raceways and I have not experienced any "abnormal" or unusually fast rear brake pad wear. I'm an intermediate driver, so not the fastest and I also let my car cool off for about 20 minutes between sessions.

Pacific Raceways Turn 2 requires braking downhill from 155mph to about 60-65mph, Turn 3a braking downhill from about 117mph to about 40mph, Turn 5a braking from about 123mph to about 70mph.
Those are about the heaviest braking zones for me.

It's only you and a couple of other guys here, from what I can tell, that are reporting this excessive wear on the rear pad. So either you guys are extremely advanced and fast drivers that are somehow able to wear out an entire pad per trackday or maybe it's possible that some cars might have some faulty rear brake caliper calibration from factory that puts unnecessary excessive wear on the rear pad.
Or maybe it's possible that the rear pad compound that BMW ultimately chose is garbage for very fast drivers on tracks that are very hard on the brakes.

My best guess. Their DSC is on during trackday.

Not mine. DSC / MDM / TC all off. Have driven this way for years. And Lewis Hamilton is not worried about me either. I just drive them as I find them. Speaking of which..qualifying at Monza is on in 10 minutes..gotta go.

Races are not won in the straights...they are won in the turns.

This is a great tip and saves a shit ton of time pulling the motor. I used a 9v battery and held the connection until the motor fully retracted.

No parking brake warnings and everything worked flawlessly. Tested parking brake and auto hold, no issues.

Thank you @av.7447

Mine was in level 3 which is supposed to do nothing unless you drift...Initially i thought that its still might be doing something but other people reported killing the pads with everything off still...

As far as the compound of the rear break pads, believe me you have the most street compound BMW can find and will not make much noticeable difference if any between the X5 and M3/M4 rear pads... Personally I cant wait for hawk hp plus to be out with their pads for the M4!
