So does running the non front mount intakes reduce power by sucking in all the hot air inside the engine bay?

Don't want to sound like a jerk but it's been explained numerous times.

Long story short, the hot air theory does not apply to turbo cars as proven by numerous dynos on BMW since 2006.

I have not seen a single dyno showing a performance decrease from the intake.

Am new to turbo cars and M's for that matter but thank you for the clarification, very much appreciated.

The lower airbox tray and intake channels remain.

The dealership will not care as long as you are not asking them to fix a problem caused by your mods free of charge.

Seemed to me since it connects to the engine that they might not like it and will find that as a reason to void it!

That's not how it works as they cannot, by law, void the warranty on a part unless it's damaged.

Hard to capture with the phone on this windy day in Northern California, but you can hear it with headphones, it's very addictive.

Why do shops there not want to do the install?

I'll do the installation myself, here in CA all the shops are avoiding to do this kind of work =|
Why wouldn't anyone do the install?

No worries, since catless is not legal in emission-controlled states, some shops refuse to install it.

This is the right answer. But I think my mistake was calling instead of going directly to the shop, maybe they don't want to have any record of an agreement to do so, they did to the Supra no questions asked.

Still now I would keep doing my stuff, is really not that hard, just requires patience.

It's getting tougher every year with fewer mechanics installing catless downpipes nowadays. There are also fewer vendors offering catless

But cars do not race on dynos.
In several test 0.15~0.20sec quicker 60 to 130mph front mount vs regular intakes.
