BMW Performance shift knob

Purchased a BMW Performance shift knob and installed it to match my silver interior. Overall I'm happy with it and like the grip much better than the stock shift knob.

Decent actually, not too heavy and not too light, just right IMO.

Very nice. I did the same with the F30 CF shifter. I like the grip better as well.

Thanks and that's a nice shift knob, if my interior was carbon I would've went for that one as well. 😬

I tried to find a Glossy CF shifter but they are very rare. I had one before which I sold It's hard to match the CF interior. I ordered a CF leather boot and M stripe leather boot.

I got it off of Amazon was cheaper there than the dealership and direct fit.

Yes and the old one was like glued on slightly, so all I did was use a little super glue on the bottom of the shifter and the boot to keep it sealed. Don't use too much just enough to where it seals and be sure not to drip because it dries white. I just use barely any, but got enough just so it will seal.

Thanks for the photos!

Quick question: Does the shift knob on G8x just pull off (like on older 3-series, for example E9x)?

On my former F87 M2 the knob was hot glued to the "skirt" part.

Anytime and yes it pulls off the same and is glued as well. I just use a little superglue around the ring to seal it. Make sure you don't drip any as for it dries white.

For anyone wondering how to install a shift knob onto your 2021 and up M3 or M4 manual.

How did you attach the boot?

Pull up on the boot and don't unclip from the square housing and it will unclip from the center console.

Just did this install, broke the tabs off the stock knob put the boot back in the car and popped the knob on top of it looks amazing. The knob being put on and the boot pushing up create the look that they are attached but will probably apply some super glue later if anything

Nice, that's what I used was super glue to hold it together, just a little bit not too much. A gentlemen named Janry Burns just did his install, same knob but added carbon vinyl and it looks great. He defintiely saved money on the BMW performance shift knob vs the M performance one.
