This system won't remove or replace the catalytic converters, so no CEL.

And so no impact on emissions at all, right? Just sound and flow of exhaust etc.

Thanks for answering noob questions.

Exactly.
Wait, it removes the secondary cats so it definitely affects emissions... it's just that the primary cats are intact so no CEL.

If you review the original post, there are three versions: axle back, secondary cat back, and primary cat back. I think you're correct only for the last one.

Ah right, I guess I'm biased because I'm only considering the catback personally XD

Hey guys so just a bit uneducated around inspection requirements…but I do know it's obviously different state to state and between inspection shops, but does it mean if you are installing these exhausts that remove the secondary cats mean there is at least a chance you won't pass inspection? I don't know how emissions is checked during inspection.

Ok, let me clarify.

Yes, Remus do offers full cat-back that removes the secondary.

BUT… for US market, they only offers secondary cat back system and axle back system.

So, for US market, you are keeping the primary cat and secondary cat.

On other topic, will it pass emissions if you removed the secondary?
This would be depending on your state's and local law requirements.

For us in LA, no one cares since most guys will be selling their car before even the emission test is required (which is 5 years of the inital purchase).

Yes, primary cats on the downpipe, secondary cats on the front of the midpipe.

Love it!

Although may be a bit too loud…have a feeling my neighbors might be pissed to hear that every weekday morning at 6:30am.

Good way to have them move out.

In all seriousness, you can leave the secondary cats in to tone it down. I will experiment with secondary cats on and off once I purchase this exhaust.

I guess this was a special delivery for Shmee from remus because I ordered my exhaust in start of August and dont even know whether it would be delivered this month or next and I am from the same area. I guess common people have to wait.

But moaning aside, this sounds insane and I can't wait to get mine. Thanks @iviegatron.

Ha, we actually just moved to this neighborhood so I'd be that new asshole that moved in.

It does seem fairly toned down with the valves closed. Perhaps if I backed into the garage and started with valves closed I'd get little to no complaints.

The Remus exhaust sounds great!

Also, the Leib Engineering canbus module is interesting, allowing for manual control of the valve via the exhaust button on the centre console. Are there any other alternative products out there which allows for manual control of the valve via the centre console or cruise control buttons?

VSC 2 Valve Controller Quick Review https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1851467

let's you control the valve via home link buttons

Thanks - I'm aware of the VSC 2 but unfortunately we don't have Homelink here in Australia and therefore the Leib Engineering using the exhaust button seems like a nicer solution than the cheap-looking remote controls which come with the VSC2
