Who is upgrading these crappy speakers?
I KNOW I am. When I get back from vacation the front stage, center channel and subwoofer are getting replaced.
These speakers are just horrible. |

Audiotec fischer has the Match10 with HK harness coming out very soon in the US (Mine is expected to arrive in 2 weeks). This will be a complete DSP/Amp for all the speakers and outputs to drive subwoofers.
Once mine arrives, I will have Arc Audio RS Tweeters and 4" mid-bass ready to go in all the doors and center channel, along with AD W800NEO 8" midbass drivers for the floor subs. 2 Arc audio A12 subs in the trunk powered off a 1100.1 amp itching to go as well. Car will be Sound Quality comp ready by end of July. I'll follow up with a build log and score progression soon. |

I’m about a month out from getting my car, so I haven’t even listened to the stock sounds system yet. The OEMs seem to be paying less and less attention to sound quality with the exception of some of the higher end upgrades, which is disappointing but I guess it gives us something to tinker with later. |

The HK Match is a great product but I hate that you basically have to tune it yourself since they don't provide updated DSP profiles for newer cars. For those of us that like plug and play it's kind of a dealbreaker.

At the risk of sounding foolish, have any of you tried the Bavsound packages on a previous BMW? Their claims are compelling, and I love the idea of directly swapping amps and speakers with plug and play improvements. Any thoughts on going that route?

Before giving up on the stock HK speakers please give the B&W dsp's a try if you have Bimmercode. Detailed here in this thread.

I tried the B&W (not B&O) bimmercode, it's a DSP change, but without the actual speaker upgrade it's only a mild change. I can't say it's better, but it's different.
I had the car scored with the stock system a few weeks back and it was given a ~71.3 (out of 100), with the best cars in CA (and the US) in the mid 80s. That's not terrible, many stock cars are in the 60s for scores. My current competition car scores in the low to mid 80s with the Helix DSP (same unit in the Match) and Arc Audio amps. As was previously said, the HK Match upgrade won't do much without a good tune. Bavsound and the other BMW specific companies basically sell the Match system rebranded along with a tune and some upgraded speakers. I've heard they'll be available by end of year. Once I get mine in, I'll be happy to share some basic tunes. If you in the Northern California area DM me and I'll be happy to show you how to tune with the Arc PS8 or Match/Helix system. |

I will agree that yes it's not a massive change but the B&W dsp's definitely have less of that surround "echo" than the L7 stuff. Worth a try if that annoys you. |

I'd obviously have prefered they gave us the option for the B&W upgrade they have in the 8's. I'd be curious to know what people end up paying to upgrade the speakers in the end.

I almost miss my old car…(not that much) but I definitely want to do some upgrades. Considering adding a sub in the trunk. Been doing a lot of research and a lot of people swear on the earthquakes for the floor. Keep us updated! |

Any thoughts if the BimmerTech AlphaOne speaker upgrade for the G20 will also fit the G8x?

took the car with the B&W code change to the most recent MECA SQ competition. With the "studio (flattest sound)" and surround all the way up. The car scored a 69.75. Not great. Last month with 3 judges it scored a 71.25 on OEM settings.
So objectively judge, the B&W seems to score worse in tonality and staging. The Match UP10 should be here in a week or so, I'll be doing a quick install with sub and having it judged at the MECA CA state finals in Modesto, CA; I'll report back scores. With proper EQ and time alignment I could see these speakers doing a reasonable job and pushing into the mid 70s score. The top competitors in the US are seeing scores around 83-86, my normal competition car is in the low 80s. |

Any MSC-America dealer can order them: https://www.msc-america.com/dealer-locator/
You'll need the Match UP10 and the BMW harness PP-BMW-1-9ram-hk to make it work. (https://www.audiotec-fischer.de/en/m...-bmw-1-9ram-hk) Retail for the DSP/Amp should be around ~1300, and the harness is ~200. Speakers will vary wildly depending on brand/size/installation. |
