How are the G8x owners who kept their F8x?
Do you guys regret it? Plan to let one go over the other? Or keep both?
I want to keep my 6mt F80 for a track toy (dedicated) and dd a G80 individual comp .. but I feel like they are too similar to justify keeping the F80. Other choices would be a C7/C8 Z06, or a GTR. |

I own both. I have a unique F80 M3 Edition Velocity. It only came in DCT. I love the way it delivers the power, and it’s a hoot to drive. I almost traded in the F80, but the automatic G80 just was not satisfying to drive. So, I ended up with the manual transmission.
It is the best way to enjoy the G80. It’s luxurious, yet I can row through the gears. IMO, they are two different animals. I can’t say the same for your 6MT. It’s one I never got to experience. I am glad I kept both. My 6MT G80 is an excellent daily driver. If I had to get rid of one, it would be the G80 hands down. The F80 feels better built from the way the engine idles, to having which I didn’t care then, but has shades that extend and I have heated rear seats in the F80. Also, my F80 stock has the same horsepower as the G80. |

Hello, I am not sure, but I had went to Wiesbaden to see one of the best mechanics in Germany. Who specializes in M car maintenance and upgrades. He said the models that were sold in Germany the velocity’s were stock 480.
Attached is a picture of the G80 up top and the F80 at the bottom. I have a friend with the G82 Competition. His reads 503 HP compared to my manual. |

Before I put my order in for the G80 I tried very hard to buy an F80. I test drove many of them and put many miles on a couple. I just cannot get over how rough driving they were, how stiff and uncomfortable the suspension was and the final straw that made up my mind to not buy one was it wasn’t even as fast as my Mercedes C450. I’m telling you this my friend there’s no way it’s even close to as fast as the G80. Not stock. It’s not even in the same league. I do agree with you that they are two completely different animals. The F80 is harsh driving in comfort mode and sports mode. The G80 is very comfortable and daily drivable in comfort mode. Now I don’t think the F80 is beautiful looking. But I also think the G80 too. So there you go.

As far as power is concerned, the G80 6MT is pretty close to the F80 ZCP on paper (same torque, +30hp), though it puts down its power better practically everywhere. It will feel slower in low RPM, daily driver situations (especially compared to the tighter geared DCT F80). The G80 Competition is where distance is really put on the old generation. Both the Base and Competition with feel like a step forward in Comfort suspension tuning and steering and handling at higher limits. |

I have owned both, but didn't keep my 18 F80 comp after driving the G82. I also opted for a 6mt vs the automatic, I think this makes the car a closer comparison to the f80.
F80 is a much more "raw" car and I enjoyed tracking it. As a daily driver it was fine, but not as good as the G80. I had full spl suspension arms and coilovers and even with a lot of grip the power delivery would tend to blow the tires off. G8x is a better suited "dual purpose" car in my opinion. I am curious how it fares on the track. |

I got the G80 full PPF’ed and ceramic coated which reduces the cleaning time to get her back on the road. The F80 however, is just relaxing in the garage until the sun is out. |
