Brake Squeaks In My G80

I love my G80 but god I hate when my brakes squeak lol, I have 700 miles on it now and I thought it was only the Carbon Ceramics that did that. Is anyone else noticing this?

None yet. Has it been through rain yet?

------

Mine is 500 miles in, several days of rain and cold temperatures (40F to 50F), but still no squealing.

None at all, that's why I'm curious as to why.

Go burnish them in and see what happens. Some noise is to be expected out of a high performance brake setup.

My M-Compound brakes still squeak on my 2021 M2C 7 months after delivery...it's pretty common. I'd expect the carbon ceramics to squeak even more. You can have them look at it, but I'd put money on the table that it's totally normal.

Mine G80 M3 squeaked like crazy and after the 1st track day, no squeak.

Btw, this is the 1st M3 that did not need Pagid brake pads to survive a few sessions. Every M3 before this model without ceramics SUCKED at the track without a pad upgrade at a minimum.

My squeaks but not all the time, I only have 420 miles on the car. This is not unusual for new brake pads from what I have read. Good to hear that it was gone after the first track day, I have a track day scheduled for early June.

I have about 1600 miles on mine and they squeak too but not all the time. Seems like when I apply light pressure for slow stops the brakes squeak but when I apply heavy force at much faster speeds I don't hear any squeaks. I also noticed that after I wash my wheels and spray out the wheels and the rotors, I don't get any squeaks.

I followed my usual bedding in procedure for new brakes and the squealing went away but has returned albeit much less. I didn’t have enough open road to do it 100% so I plan on doing it again.

Have you tried bedding in the pads? I hear no squeaks at all. In the manual, it states that you should do a few hard stops once in a while.

mine are horrid I can't have the window open its so loud I expected some as its a high performance car but good god its bad its probably the brake dust build up and they are a high metallic compound but its honestly unacceptable to me how bad it is for steel brakes the only option is probably clean them all the time or change the pads to something less aggressive

As I mentioned above give this a try. It will resolve the issue and make the pads and rotors last longer.

I am experiencing the same issue. Dealer said they are hearing this a lot with the new M3 and M4. In short, they said since the high performance brakes create more dust, the brakes will squeak at lower speeds due to that dust. Was not thrilled with their response to say the least.

I have ~5k miles on my G80. At 5k miles, brakes started squeaking bad… really bad… like embarrassed to stop at a stop light bad.

I did the bedding in procedures in the PDF above, and the squeaking went away. Probably could have done a little less, along the lines of the posted G80 manual.

Thank you.

Here's a video in the breaking system:
will find the other one on the reasons for noise.

Just like any other car that has Brembos, you need to take a few trips to Mexico for some 150-0 runs. Or just take a few rips down the 1/4 mile track. They'll be fine after that. If you drive Ms. Daisy with it, they will always be loud. I cracked up when I read about the BMW CCB lawsuit. Clearly, these people don't use 3/4 of the speedo.

The only time my C7 ever did it, was during the engine break-in period. After that, a few brake stabs and they never make noise.

Angry Unacceptable‼️

I have over 4K miles on my M3C and the brake squeal is terrible‼️
I understand why it happens but that does NOT make it right or acceptable…..It’s painful to roll up in a M3 Competition beast of a car when every dog at the corner you are pulling up to looks like its ears and head are gonna explode from the screeching noise‼️

I've bed the brakes in at least three times and also done some aggressive breaking from high speed and they still squeal like a pig. I think it's just nature of the beast.

Ehhh that sucks… I know the feeling. I got lucky where mine stopped… I was so embarrassed, rolling up in this sexy new car…. Then this high pitched squeak… I wanted to hide lol. Hopefully it gets less and less…. It would piss me off…
