Yes, and you shouldn't do that, part of the reason these cars turn in better than the previous gen is more tire up front. Most people are trying to fit MORE wheel under the front, not less.

Short answer is yes it would change however you just need to ensure the offset works on the vehicle. Use a wheel offset calculator (eg. www.1010tires.com/Tools/Wheel-Offset-Calculator) to check what offset is needed to match to OEM or change as desired.
Stock offset is ET20 front and rear so an 8.5 should be ET7 to match which I don't think is easy to find. In my experience in running in snow/ice my entire driving life, just leave it alone, doesn't make as much as a difference as you think. Sure going from a 11" to an 8" would but 9.5 to 8.5 would be minimal. I would prefer to enjoy the look of my M-car all year round, 8.5's would bug me. |
