Is there anything wrong with me thinking I could get the catted downpipes and then some other cat back exhaust? For example I really like Remus based on videos.

That's the best plan in my opinion. Catted downpipe + a full catback gets you an aggressive and still balanced sound.

That's what we are doing on the shop's M4 (Full Active Autowerke setup)

We went with the non-resonated X-pipe. I listened to both setups and the single sounds very similar to the X-pipe.

I'll have a short comparison clip with stock vs AA midpipe

Once the exhaust is fully installed, I'll post more sound clips

Once the axle back is installed

the midpipe is ~30% louder with a lot more pronounced burble and a deeper mid-range tone.

it made a much bigger difference in terms of sound vs when we installed the catted downpipes

Ok! So you're not going to post with just the midpipe?

I posted a few revs at the end of the video, but I won't be posting more. The reason for it is that the phone camera does not capture the sound correctly.

Im only able to post when the videographer is around during the install video shoot

Are they going to release an EL midpipe this time around? I really loved the smooth, higher-frequency (high revving-sounding) resonated EL midpipe/dp combo on the F8X generation and am looking to get close to this sound

Not sure to be honest, I have no news yet that they are working on an equal length midpipe

Mike or Andrew will these downpipes require a proper (non-piggyback) tune? I know for the STI this was the case. Are these motors/ecu different in these cars and able to adjust? What about with a JB4? Not sure I would want to be on the fringe with RaceChip.

@mike@x-ph.com
@andrew@activeautowerke.com
No tuning needed

The STI downpipe issue is not present with BMWs as the BMW ECU automatically adjusts.

Jb4 or Racechip are both safe and reliable tunes, not needed for the downpipe but will add significant power
