North American-spec G82 Rear Turn Signal Unlock
Has anyone been able to code in the rear light strip turn signal. I hate that the NA brake light doubles as the turn signal. Seen the light strip in action on a Euro-spec and would love to activate it on mine.

Hate to answer your question with a question, but do we know the euro-spec lights and US lights are identical, hardware-wise?
My guess is they're different like the F80/30 rear lights. |

The European thin-strip turn signal missing from US-spec cars is still a sore spot for me too, something I noticed long ago before I ordered my car. |

I am interested in this as well. I have 2022 M3 and would like the turn signal to blink independent of the brake light especially if I convert to amber euro spec taillights.
No solution or coding fix yet ? |

The tail lights for Euro and US spec have different part numbers. I have done some research when choosing between G80 and G82 so I know this, I ended up with G80.
The connectors for Euro G80 taillamp set are the same according to Tom at European Auto Source, just need some coding to "separate" the brake and turn signals. (US G80's flash the brake lights along with turn signals) Extra wire is also needed to be run on each side if you want the rear fog. (Euro headlight switch unit required) I don't know about the G82's because US G82's don't even flash the bottom light strips as US G80's do, G82's just double the brake lights as turn signals. But it should be pretty similar in terms of installation and coding. Last edited by dc_alwaysblue; 01-24-2023 at 01:18 PM.. |

Just to add further.. The coding to separate the G80 brake and turn signals has already been accomplished and then you would only need to procure and install a Euro set of Tails to have amber turn signals
https://www.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1662914 For the G82 /G83 it's my understanding that the US spec tails are wired differently from the Euro spec and the brake and turn are integrated into one unit. While I can't confirm this, I think to convert us to EU spec that you're going to have to run a separate wire from the BCM to the tail lights in order to separate the signal. Too much work for me to worry about but I keep checking every so often to see if anyone solves this for the M4

tom @ eas coded this on my car. We set the whole car to euro spec and achieved this independent turn signal mod and brake force display along with it.
