For those who have cut/modified fender lining for springs/spacers

I am dropping my G80 off for AST springs and a 15/12mm spacer install in a few days. I was hoping to gain some clarification from those of you who cut or heated the portion of the liner that is prone to rubbing on full lock? I'd like to take care of that as cleanly as possible.

If I were closer to you crazies out in Cali, I'd just go drop off to Ben and have him modify me an MSS, however no one seems to know whats going on in G80 world here in DFW currently.

You gents mind sharing any of your findings? I tend to get a little saw-zall happy... Save me from myself, and thank you in advance.

I didn't do anything. The rubbing is overblown honestly and I have 15mm spacers in the front on MSS. You only get a very mild rub in full lock on reverse that seems to have cured itself! I'm on PZeros too

There is one small rubber piece sticking out that is the culprit but I wouldn't worry and leave the heat gun/saw at home

I kept on forgetting taking pictures. My apology.

But, the easiest way, wear it out until you see the rubbing mark, then cut those fins.

Maybe TrentMeister can take a picture of his car with steering whee fully lock to the right.

Thank you barryc365 i really appreciate your feedback, especially as I’m on pzeros as well. I bet both the tire and liner do a bit of wearing and viola! Again, thank you for testimony.

I just lowered my new 2022 and there is zero rubbing on 15 square but I have the PS4's on this car.

Apparently the sidewall on the Pzero is taller which causes that minute rubbing up front. With my 2021- I just endured the noise only on full reverse situations.

The small cutting your shop probably will do is a non starter.

Are we now almost positive that any suspension setup for the RWD G80 will fit the AWD G80 (including HAS, Springs, etc.)?

I'm currently waiting for KW HAS but don't see any confirmation that it'll fit the AWD version...

Yes, it will fit.
KW HAS and MSS most likely will work perfectly fine on the drop.
Not sure about H&R or AST. The drop probably going to be a little weird.

We have an AWD coming in next week for test fitment and will be following up in the AST thread: https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1847754

Since we went lower mine is actually catching a different set of fins.

But I'm sure it would have been fine before the mod.

I'll have to bring it by to get it figured out.

I actually think I need to go back to stock so I can take it back to the dealer to figure out my clicking sounds unfortunately.

No, my research says it's either 2 bad bearings, or 2 bad rotors.

I was wondering as I can feel a very faint clunk in the steering wheel when I take off from a slow start. I haven't made any changes to the suspension yet.

I was wondering about this Rubbing situation also. I just found out mines came in with Pzeros. Planning to do 15mm or 12mm spacers all around dropping on KW has Kit

It will rub, but only in reverse when turning a certain direction. So it will be at low speeds and mostly avoidable, just plan on doing 6-point turns instead of 3.

So I wouldn't worry about the rubbing, though at some point, all of this rubbing will wear out the liners and such, and none of us sure of what the long term affects of having warped or broken liners will have on our cars.

Hey man! Your set up will be killer! I’m running a 15 up front ans 12 in back on Pzeros. I can’t over emphasize how easy it was to achieve absolutely ZERO rubbing. We did so with a heat gun and a small rotary 3M shaver wheel thing. It’s 99% unchanged and unnoticeable unless you know what was done. Go at it with confidence! The aggressive stance really accents the aggressive body lines so well. You’ll be happy with your decision!
